Game problem
Hello everyone. Recently, when I play quake, the game just freezes and I get visual artifacts including many red dots, vertical thin white lines and some other artifacts, and some are really interesting. Then I can play for a few seconds more and after that it freezes for good. I recorded a demo, but when I viewed the recording, the image is normal, no visual artifacts on display, idk why. I've reinstalled my operating system, directx 9c and latest nvidia 6600 gt drivers, but nothing. Any idea what the hell is going on?
Maybe you have too hot in there(gf6600)
Try to clean out cooling from dust, leave your case open, etc.
This was mine MAIN problem when i had game problem diffrent errors all the time and gott BLUE SCREEN etc all the time while playing (: I was like WTF is happening.

This i recommend to
After cleaned out the shit comp and removed the most off the dust on the coolers etc and now Akadabra it works flawless.
but i would not recommend to leave the case open the comp gett dusty faster, all though it cools it down faster etc but but this is mather off taste i guess.
Good Luck!!

Sounds like GPU overheating (core probably)...
1. Buy a new one (9800GTX+ is like 130E now i think)
2. Apply new thermal paste under the GPU core heatsink...
3. If there's too much dirt then clean it up ffs
9800GTX+ is a bad choice imho
PS try to clean your PC and may be put into your case 1 more fan
with a bit bad luck, something of ur hardware is burned, for example gfx memory (had that on my 7600 gs silent, it generally was around 70° and became even hotter.)

Can you buy anything better on that price tag?? I don't think so.. Certainly not in Greece...
edit: I now see that GTX250 was made available here so yes you are right you can buy one for 145E
haha thank you guys I've solved the shit, seems like theres no more erroring and stuff. It fixed itself haha. thanks a lot for replying, especially to you zoomer, lion seems to wanna put me on money spending
No i think their right in a way.
I also used to have those artifacts when i was gaming. I could play normaly for a while. But then without a warning the screen became totally weird. Either dots or lines all over across the screen.
It solved itself after i turned of the computer or stopped playing for an hour. But then after a time blue dots start to appear. Or yelllow depend of what color the background was. Anyhow..
And i've never cleaned my computer for dust or clense shit that might stuck after years of using. (laptop)
Now those dots are all over the screen and i have to use minimum settings just to for windows. And when i watch movies the screen flicker. Like bad Hz-rate or so. Time to time the screen works perfectly.. But its just a matter of time when something bad happens. It gets really hot after 5 minutes of use if i had my laptop on my lap. But that is not my concern anymore since i gave the computer away. I didnt took charge i just wanted to get rid of it
