Ye, dm17 and space maps in general are another story... but, it's nothing a few if-else's in cfg won't help. MJ's for dm17, or making an insta rail just for it (if it's possible).
The rail knockback is pretty significant, and it definetely pisses me off when either I'm knocked back or someone who I tried to shoot flies off (even more when the player frags me). So the instagib would probably have to stay, but other weapons could be tweaked, and mj turned off. That would still greatly contribute to the tactical style of playing. This unfortunately doesnt solve the spawncamping problem, to which I see no solution in this e+ version (greater anticamp will eliminate the sneaky style of gameplay and may cause problems with thawing, while spawnprotection is very annoying as it is).
hmm...i still havent managed to try it out on a server....but excepting situations where u get knocked off the map (which i guess can be solved by turning rail damage up on the space maps) and where u get knocked into a corner and get stuck, i think the rail knock back is actually a good thing...it kinda makes you work a little harder at aiming...
dont know if i prefer just plain 2 rail kills all the time or maybe putting rg damage to 300 so armour and mh become a little more imporant....probly the 2nd option will seem a little more in keeping with the "excessive" nature that people crave ...
arax...this wont completely solve the problem of camping...i guess as hq rightly pointed out camping will take place however much we change the mod...but imo balancing weapons and doing stuff like 2 shot rg kills would help improve the situation a bit cos u could do things like bfg slide into a room where the enemy team is camped out and get some time to try and kill them cos they wouldnt be able to kill you with just one rail shot....
wish i had ftp access and rcon to a server...been tinkering with configs and bloody frustrating that i cant test it out with people ...

I'm not trying to give suggestions about camping (that is present and always will be) but about spawncamping, which should be somehow fixed.

In this case u speak about ur personal favour. With combos, bfg/nades, or bfg/rocket, u can do things, which u never did, because the multijumps made the job for you. At least, if a change come, it will not come from today to tomorrow. Like i said, first on a test server, which i try to make it good visited to get a valid common opinion.

again a personal impression. The maindifference, as example for me, is the physics, in bro and nh 1 and on plus 2. Als the weaponusage, while u play in e5 bfg/mg/lg/nade, u play in plus rg/rl/nade/bfg

it is sad, that i see nearly nobody using physics 2, for example making a U-Turn out of 700 ups, dominating the map with strafing. If someone comes with 700 ups arround the corner, the enemy is in the first second really suprised (at least many of them)
with physics 1 u can do also a "U-Turn", but u need to do it with the keys ws and not with wasd. and its impossible to do a "U-Turn" on dm6 bridge (max units for an "U-Turn" there ca.550)
Sure, u will need to change ur routine than a bit. With old rail u was sure, if u hear the sound, enemy is fragged. Now, u have to keep an eye on him, because u dunno if he have a armor, so, u need at least a combo of rg/mg, mg as finishing. I think the common oppinion about it, could be just positive, and game would be more interesting. Also a way to have an argument against zone camping. 3 enemies camping at red armor on dm7, so, u have the possibility with armor to have a chance against 3, but just if u have an good aim and a good game-sight.
this will slow the game, cuz u will be sneaky so the enemy cant rail u with 5 hp left...
Here u post against ur principles u posted above. If someone change the splashdamage of a weapon, he will change also the the physics of movement of that weapon. BFG has no extra knockback, the movement is made with splasdamage only. If u make bfg movement with knockback only, than u will move just in one direction, and u cant variate anymore ur bfg moves from one corner. (going to left or to right, u will just have the way, going up or down).

The positiv at that is, that u cant move blind through maps, at least, u need to use ur ears before u go arround a corner. and mod is still called "excessive"
if u evade a rocket like a 1337 I-I/-\><><0r and die cuz of big range damage is that fair?
U speak again against urself, for what u need powerups, if u want to keep instarail? which would be still instarail with the exception someone has a "powerup".
i said the powerups arent balanced...and i dont need them.
u can do every move as on plus config with ur bfg? how long have u tested it? how many oppinions u have about it? i tested it str8t 30 secs, and its totally different.
you should ask ctf players to get the true oppinion about the difference, who need to move exakt with bfg.

i tested it on maps dm6 dm7 and dm13 and can do every move with it i know even if its moving isnt perfect balanced
