IE is not limiting anything as far as I can remember? All I remember from my years as a webdeveloper is that it is the other way around. IE supports all the W3C standards, BUT it also has a lot of I.E specific functionality and tags. This usually means that if you are a bad coder your site will not work in other browsers than IE. If you code directly for one of the browsers that follow the standards like FF or Opera it will work in IE too. So it is not the IE users fault that many sites dont work in FF or Opera, it is the fault of sucky website coders.

its offtopic but you propably dont know new standards, which opera and ff supports but ie not. I mean full support for xhtml. This format is still posted like html because of IE cant display it. Next one is support of PNG images. Its limiting you if you want to use partially transparent images. And more and more... Fact, that ie shows margins 5px on 8px is one of shits. IE is full of bugs. Look how many updates microsoft released because of increase security of system because of holes in security. Only one advantage of that browser is, that has so low count of functions, that is small and starts faster (maybe its only because is part of OS)

IE always has some trouble displaying pages that follow standards. I usually always have to spend some time hacking a perfectly w3c page, just to make it work good in IE. And its not cause i suck, its cause IE cant understand some simple things.

For example, only browser that displays forms properly is Opera. Firefox uses windows settings (ignoring your CSS) and IE does horrible horrible crap, trying to use both windows and CSS settings, so you end up with terrible oversized garbage.
