ClanPlus.cfg - A Clan Arena Config for Excessive Plus / v 1.1

Clan Arena has almost never been played with any configs to my knowledge for various reasons, so this config is an experiment at most.

ClanPlus.cfg or Clan+ (Could have a better name, probably) has similar gameplay to PlusN and similar configs, but plays somewhat like Quake Live's Clan Arena or Rocket Arena 3, but not quite the same. This config is highly recommened to be used with g_gametype 7, obviously.

General Info

  • Players spawn with 300 Health/Armor.
  • When a team wins a round, both teams respawn and there is a countdown of 5 seconds to the next round. (Could be raised or lowered?)
  • Health/Armor is reset each round.
  • Weapons are weaker. (See below)
  • No items or powerups.
  • Anti-Camp.
  • No Spawn Protection. (I noticed that this isn't really required, but it might be needed)
Weapon Info
  • Most weapons are weaker, to keep a similar style to other Clan Arena gameplays. (3 rails @ 300 Health/Armor = Kill, etc) Projectile weapons such as RL is surprisingly effective to RG if you get some decent shots in, and PG has increased damage. Other weapons, such as hitscans, are balanced to keep the pace with RG.
  • Many weapons have the same knockback settings as default.cfg, or vanilla, but may not feel the same.
  • Gauntlet is an instant kill.
  • Weapon movement is similar to PlusN.
  • Weapon balance might need some work, some combinations of weapons result in killing a stacked enemy within seconds, like BFG+SG+LG.
I'm not expecting this config to be used for anything, but I would love to see it being played. Any feedback would be appreciated, so please test it out if you have the time.

nice idea, good work but who will play it... PPl around can play just freeztag on beer server and nothing more

well i will try to make 3M or eXtreme play a fun wars on this to test this out for fun with some plusN clans, and then we can see how it goes Smug
first of all, admins need to upload it on servers like RSQT war server, hyperland, jumpsland, etc.

If you want to see it on clan wars, then it will take time, cos ranking should be updated with clan arena rank, clans should like the cfg to play cws on CA gametype, and in e+ forum should creat a new section for threads about clan arena player games :]

i guess the CA gametype is not the point of playing CA config cuz:
with this one we can play probably all gametypes )0,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1,etc..12,123123412,13,A( - for fun - with 'gameplay' " " "similar" " " to that what we can have see at QL clanarena Tongue

I updated this config a little, and I'm going to attempt to spark some interest in this config. Also, both this post and original post has the updated version.

I changed that instead of the losing team respawning after a round, both teams respawn with a 5 second warmup. Unfortunately, most common maps played on E+ the spawns are sort of random, it would be better if teammates spawned close to each other, it would help the flow of the config.

The weapon balance has been changed slightly. It still takes 3 rails to kill an enemy, but using a different combination of spam weapons, it is surprising how quickly it can take to kill someone.

The purpose of this config is to provide more challenging and engaging gameplay, but the config isn't perfect (of course). The main difference between Clan+ and PlusN is major, since Clan Arena in PlusN is exactly the same as freeze tag (e)minus frozen bodies. Each round in Clan+ feels very separate, and both teams have an even chance of winning since each team respawns after a round, so it involves merely on the players. Landing good rockets and bfgs matter a lot more in Clan+, and in PlusN the only purpose of rockets and bfg is spam. There is almost no insta-killing in this config,
which is the norm in all other clan arena mods and etc. But I also wonder if it would be better or worse with instagib, in my opinion it would be worse, but that's just me. The main reason this config exists anyways is because of the awesome gameplay of clan arena combined with the awesome weapon movement E+/PlusN has.

I've also considered making a 1vs1 config in the same spirit as this one, that involves armor/mega that actually matters and no instarail, but that sounds unappealing to what most players are used to when playing E+.

edit: Is gauntlet suposed to be insta? Tongue I think you should change that to at least 2 hits since rail is 3 hits.

Yeah, I've thought about that. It's hard enough to get a gauntlet kill anyways with how fast the gameplay is, but I would probably be fine with gauntlet taking 2-3 hits.

Yes, as far as I remember it's buggy, but could be fixed easly... IMO we don't need "NEW" plus config, just fix the plusN and we can easly start playing CA using this config. But tbh I would preffer to make PTL more popular Happy I love the fact it's plusN + r4e09f mix Happy (in some way)
