E+ vs Baseq3
Hey guys,
I've been playing e+ for nearly 4 months now and have realised that all 'good' players have a clan.
Recently I've been looking at the clan db and seems there a quite numerous which you could possible join. However, these are only e+. Are there other clans too which play baseq3?
Some noob questions:
- Whats the difference between e+ and baseq3?
- Which is more popular?
- How do you play baseq3?
- Are they both the same in terms of skill needed?
- Can clans of both areas play each other?
Reason being, I've received and offer from a baseq3 clan and don't know whether to join. Apparently they play lots of tourney. What is that - normal maps with weapons you have to pick up?
I'll probably reject it since I'm used to e+ and many of its members.
Anyone help?
Thanks,

There are so many differences between E+ and vq3 i don't even know where to begin. Weapon jumps, insanely powerful weapons, no item pickup, and on plus, physics. E+ and vq3 are two different worlds in terms of gameplay.
Now to answer the other questions: vq3 is more popular, as it's all people playing cpma vq3 and osp, also the ruleset is the main platform on big tournaments. How do you play vq3? Go and see, lol. ;p Skillwise, i'd say vq3 has a much steeper learning curve, and demands more from the players. Also the people who play vq3 tend to be better than your average E+'ser. All the weapon jumps you practiced on E+ will be useless in vq3, if you play plus.cfg, than you can forget about rail, it's not insta, and is used as a support weapon. Also, if all you ever played is E+, than your ground movement will probably be crippled, and ground movement is very important in vq3. I guess E+ and vq3 clans could play vs each other... but how would that match look like, anyway? They would destroy the other in their "home" environment, so no point in doing something like this (unless it would be like mouz vs dpr or something, hahahah).
e+ = baseq3+more
nothing less nothing more, there aint a reason to use original baseq3 anymore.
baseq3 = original q3
e+ = fun-mod
If u wanna play original q3 on competition level play osp (out of support) or cpma (offers varios ways of competitive games)
e+ as it self is pretty well explained by mad 2 posts above.
Ok people, that pretty much sums it up then. Initially when I started multiplayer, I thought it would be exactly like original q3. Then someone happened to tell me to download e+ - it could have been the other way round tbh - somebody could have happened to tell me about CPMA first.
Anyway, since then, I'm not gonna leave e+ - seems so much more fun than baseq3. I guess it's destiny i'll do well in e+!!!

hf & gl
btw fun comparison e+ vs baseq like matrix reality vs real world ..kinda

Well, you have to understand the difference between terms. What you're talking about is vq3, which is the ruleset - weapon damages, movement physics, switch time, and so on. baseq3 is plain Quake 3, without any mods. People don't play baseq3 anymore, because they play the vq3 ruleset on mods like OSP or CPMA, which, basically, takes the vq3 ruleset and puts it in an environment that gives additional configuration features for the client (enemymodels, custom huds, other crosshairs etc etc).

gl & hf -1 players in baseq3 and +1 players in e + Soon all players from q3 will proceed on mod e +
would the 'unlagged' mod count as baseq3 ? just curious the server is called gin or something

u can turn unlagged off, so u can let run a e+ server a completly 100 percent same baseq3 game.
So basically, baseq3 is more or less the same as Q3A original single player? (without any mod)
If it is, I think I'll stick with e+.
