cherry switches are the best mechanical key switches on earth
at keyboard with ps/2 adaptor (or whatever the connection was named before ps/2)
Exactly have the same at secondary PC (Cherry KB with DIN5 connector through ps/2 adaptor) )))))
Currently husbs pc has HP KB-0316 and my one equipped with Logitech Y-SU61
But both of us are going to upgrade to Logitech G15 (may be even G19 but not sure)
the one fala posted is what i like, old style and not too sensitive, i bet its very good, but its way to expensive, maybe i'll try to find some old keyboard but this time ps2
I have heard that old style kbds are the best, especially some BTC models where kbd controller allows to handle up to 8 pressed keys in one time and of cause kbds with classic layout for numeric/arrows/location/modificator keys will rules forever.
I'm using g15 for 2-3 years, all works fine, except the wire at kb-side had broken, but was fixed by myself...
imho - G15 is too big and has too long presses, also too much useless buttons and useless lcd, but i like the buttons-lights...
resume 4 of 5 but i won't buy it if its broke, will walk ahead maybe with some razer kb.
i m using logitech classic 200 on all my pcs - that i think the best wire keyboard.
one time i use wireless logitech lx 710 but now i move it to box. it is good for htpc f.e., but not for gaming and typing.
since i have a few spare minutes i will write down my expiriences with keyboards.
keyboards are generally one of the stuff where the quality and price extremly dropped over the years.
modern keyboards u get, with cool layout, ergonomically formed and so on, they aint worth a shit.
its like with car motors, there are motors nowadays which drop out after 200k kilometer simply cuz they are used.
engineers tend to build their first working solution kinda indestructible but companys drop practically stuff to get stuff that makes people buy, like all the ufo mice that are on the market now.
lets face it, eventhough the keyboard is not supposed to be used for it, old keyboards support this:
-They definitly are water resistant, drop anything over them, wait and 99% is the chance they will work agian. (unlike g15, i never seen such a ludicrous amount of errors after a water damage)
-If u are on lan and ur friend next to you drops fanta over it u can use it to knock him out.
-Chuck norris can kill people with it without that it breaks.
-They definitly are not worth a tear if u have to throw them into the trash when they are really broken.
-The printing on the keys NEVER wears off, seen it on a few ne ones, this old one doesnt care at all from what i seen
now why are those keyboards better beside they are robust?
most of the new keyboards that are not specially designed for it have the common matrix used for keyboards since the last 10+ years, which support up to 3 keys same time which roughly will get beaten by any normal guy.
Ger-Wikipedia (to lazy to search in eng one)
practically translated it means that the matrix is build so that actually when u type, u wont hit the keys same time which would cause an error.
N-key rollover is that every button gets detected, no matter what place it is.
combinated with the fact that the keys on a keyboard is a layout of old mechanical devices which tend to stuck if u press 2 keys near another, thats why letters are all over the place on a keyboard.
ofc the old keyboards used such a matrix, mine keyboard uses diff, it can not combinate like most others, for example it stucks on caps +arrowup +left.
needed some time to get used to it, but meanwhile i enjoy the steady keys.
this is actually the big advantage of old keyboards, the keystrokes are a lot better (except if u like laptop keyboards).
the keys of good old keyboards are mostly constructed so they wont struggle a bit when moving finger bit left or right on the key, they are absolutely solid.
on mine its released with 2 extra fixations on each key.
___ | |- | A | -|___|
the top right and the left down are fixed unlike newer keyboards were just the center is fixed, causing keys to kinda escaping ur fingers.
another point is the durability of the rubber below keys and so on, its way more mechanic and not based on the rubber pushing the key back into neutral position like on g15. (damn, just ran out of ice bonbons)
the best i ever typed on was a ibm model m keyboard of my brother Xunderbird, i have no idea if he overclocked his ps2 port (maybe he did) but camping gaz measured that he could switch a key between 2 frames (so 8msec) in q3 which is all u need as a gamer.
if u want to know more about those keyboards and their 100 percent mechanical keys with a spring, visit this website ->

however, the latest good thing i have seen online is the steelseries 7g, (u might look at the 6g2) i did not have the opportunity to test it out but if i would go for any keyboard nowadays besides clicky, its the way to go because its supposed to have kinda same switches but with less way down then the old clicky keyboards.
i did not check those information good but heh, i wont have the money for such a keyboard within the next months, maybe fala knows an cheap alternative.
ps: do not take all the infos in this post as facts (beside that i run out of icebonbons)
