1. Open bios setup.
2. Set the new HDD as first boot device in bios, and old HDD as second boot device (or nothing).
3. ???
4. Profit.

there can be problem on some mobo if one hdd is sata and second ide. If you have two sata, all what you need will be set right boot priority in BIOS

you can also do it without bios and jumpers.
just install xp on the other hd from your current xp installation.
make sure you select an option in the beginning that you must select the partition or hd later.
when thats done you have a dual boot.
now you can edit the boot.ini on the first hd so that it always starts the xp from the second hd.
then if you want you can also switch sata connectors or change bios later for a start straight from the new hd.
this is how i always install xp. straight from hd, goes very fast. Tongue

bert ftw. (at least that's how i would do it since you want a windows install on the new drive)

i would then move over the stuffs then format the old drive.

on the right screen select advanced, then the left window pops up, then turn on 'i want to choose... blah blah'
this can be on a slave drive.
after installing put the ntdlr and ntdetect from the old c to the new root and mark the new partition as active.
also format it without assigning a drive letter, mine seems to be stuck at 'g' now.
btw my current sata drive is a slave and there isnt even a master.
my second sata drive where i put new xp on, also is a slave without a master.
sounds kinky but its true.
