Bitspirit - new torrent client
If you think that your uTorrent is fast enough for your torrents, try to check Bitspirit
BitSpirit is a powerful and easy-to-use BitTorrent client which provides not only full BitTorrent protocol implementation but also many personalized features. It supports simultaneous downloads, download queue, UPNP port-maping, NAT traversal(UDP transport), select downloads from multiple files torrent package, disk cache, chatting with other peers, torrent market,ip-filter, etc. In 3.0 or above versions of BitSpirit, it also supports DHT network which is based on Kademlia protocol; and fully compatible with Bittorrent official client.
From inet forums :
- Best client I've ever used. With BitSpirit my average download speed is 500 kb/s I've never been able to achieve such speed with utorrent. Now that utorrent has been sold to BitTorrent and that anti P2P organizations are behind it I will never use it anymore. BitSpirit is updated regularly and they have a working website, it's just not in english. You should run the TCP/IP patch included with BitSpirit to set a higher TCP half-open limitation value. The patch is located under the Functions tab of the BitSpirit menu. Run the patch, it will tell you the current value of your system, 10 is Windows default, set the new value to 256 (recommended by BitSpirit) and then reboot your computer for the change to take effect. Enjoy.
- I didn't really believe some other people said about how good this program is, so I did a test myself. I used 3 other BT program with BitSpirit at the same time to download the same file, BitSpirit is at least 3 times faster then the 2nd best program, and so I tested 3 more files and the answer is the same.
Now, I chang to BitSpirit because is easy to use and steady. IS A GREAT PROGRAM..
- It' been a year now, and it did not let me down.
I used ABC, Azureus, Bicomet, Bitturnado, non of them satisfied me. I started losing hope in torrent technology as a whole, until I found Bitspirit...
Fast, nice-looking, feature-loaded, safer for my HD, stable, very light on the system, it is acting as if it is not there, while it is doing the best that you might imagine.
First I got into some trouble because of the speed limits, since I set them wrongly (limitless or below 30 KB/sec upload speed) but after I got that fixed it did not let me down any bit. It is setup on a machine used by about 7 people, and I did format it since I first installed bitspirit for as many times as you may not be able to imagine (not because of bitspirit), and every time I reinstall all of the apps, except for this miracle, I just run right a way since it is on the program partition, and it just goes on as if there was nothing.
Bitspirit is maybe the best application I have ever used in any category.
I remember the days when I used to pull out my hair crying and shouting because one of the other apps is not performing, and I feel fully relieved that I am now free... in other words: using BITSPIRIT.
Get it, Set it up right, and that's it.
----------------
Me personally download it yesterday. I have used Azereus but my bro told me to try Bitspirt, and my personal opinion is that it is even faster (my link is overload), more comfortable, with no java like azereus and with precision perferences and functions, scheduling torrents by date, time, editing details of torrent like protocol, defines a lot of things.
I can max dl around 400 KB. Also it can be nice if someone will post how DL speed is used by Bitspirit. My bro has full link - 2MB/sec
Give it try.

i've set up azureus the way i like it... i'm used to it's inefficiencies and bloatedness.
it's reliable on the rare occasions i use it. i used to use utorrent too... but i missed the advanced features of azureus.
http://www.utorrent.com/
i use this, its only a file of 700kb or something.
with utorrent i almost all the time have max of my connection, so dont see reason to change it..
before i used azureus but i cant advice it
i have reached 8mbit many times with utorrent.
popular 6gb files are usualy done overnight.
sometimes i even limit the download to keep a good up/dl ratio.
i dont want to be a leecher and i hate it to keep sharing a file until its ratio is good.
bitspirit has that nice feature to see the progress of the file, but that makes me wanna watch that screen all day.
Funny,I changed to utorrent cause of Bitspirit
Bitspirit was ok but was losing alot of data difference between downloaded and completed was waaaay to big and u actually had to download 400-500 MB more then u needed on certain large files, while on utorrent this never happened.
Also, while I was using Bitspirit u couldnt manually select which files u want to download if there is more then one file in torrent.Maybe its fixed now. Also not sure if bitspirit supports encryption like utorrent.
So IMO Utorrent FTW!
Azureus/Vuze 3.1 is released.
By the way, which of the programs mentioned in this thread support Safepeer and/or Peerguardian
azureus and bitlord rox
I also use Azureus since I remember.
utorrent isnt so fast like bitspirit. Ture is utorrent eats lower memory to cache or so, but it isnt so fast.
just give it a try a u'll see.
