Can anyone help me with 5.1 sounds?
tried hd 558, 598, nothing special, no big excitement, i loved the clarity, and non-bassiness, or my ears got too much metal music, prolly braindead soon, i just don't hear the things they write in reviews in forums about these headphones. Sounds better with gaming s-card for sure. Thinking about downgrading to SS 9h, 598 too much money, not worth it
Nice stuff Beki! But to set up 5.1 or 7.1 sounds for Quake 3 is quite impossible. Only newest games will support this kind of hardware. You can just try to enhance the sound positioning, try this values or change to find the best for you :
seta s_max_distance "1000" seta s_min_distance "3" seta s_musicvolume "0" seta s_distance "75.0" seta s_loadas8bit "0" seta s_compression "1" seta s_ambient "0" seta s_announcer "feedback" seta s_mixPreStep "0.05" seta s_mixahead "0.125" seta s_khz "22" seta s_doppler "0" seta s_separation "0.5" seta s_volume "0.5"Anyway, this is not a waste of money, because you'll be good surprised by the surround sound in games like Diablo 3, CSS/CSGO, Battlefield 3 (even the 2), Farcry 3, ...
Listening to music with the ones I'm using is also a good pleasure.
As Superbad and TanaKa said... first try to optimize the sound settings for your Windows system because, also in my opinion, it is not possible to set up 5.1 or 7.1 sound for Q3.
I also use a 5.1 Headphone (http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Sound/ROCCAT-Kave-5-1/) with a 7.1 HD sound card and I have just adjusted the Q3 q3config sound set up as follows:
seta s_mixPreStep "0.01"
seta s_mixahead "0.05"
seta s_mixahead "0.85"
seta s_khz "22"
seta s_doppler "1"
seta s_separation "0.5"
seta s_musicvolume "0"
seta s_volume "0.999999"
seta s_max_distance "1100.0"
seta s_min_distance "3.0"
seta s_distance "110.0"
seta s_loadas8bit "0"
seta s_rolloff "1.0"
seta s_leafnum "0"
seta s_refgain "0.45"
seta s_refdelay "2.0"
seta s_numpolys "400"
seta s_bloat "2.0"
seta s_occfactor "0.5"
seta s_occ_eq "0.75"
seta s_dopplerSpeed "4000"
seta s_dopplerFactor "1"
seta s_timescale "1"
seta s_mixSame "2"
seta s_compression "1"
seta s_ambient "0"
seta s_announcer "feedback"
seta s_chunksize "4096"
seta s_polyreflectsize "10000000"
seta s_polysize "10000000"
seta s_polykeep "1000000000"
seta s_usingA3D "1"
seta s_initsound "1"
I find that my setup is quite good and it helps a lot in game
