Can't change r_gamma, anyone got idea?

I installed Vista, all newest drivers for each part of pc, and newest direct x, i manage to get quake running together with punk buster on vista, but bad thing is, i can't change gamma or brightness.

I got ati radeon eax 1950 pro graphic card inside.

If anyone got any idea please post, thx!
