Can't edit or add new cfg's with Vista
Ok, I had to get a new computer when my old one died. I now am running Vista 64bit and having some minor problems. Vista will not let me edit or add cfg files. I'm not sure why considering I was able to get a back up copy of my old cfg from a friend who is also running vista. Every time I make a change and try to save it, it tells me that it cannot create the file and to make sure my file path is correct. I am running as admin and I'm also running under XP sp2 compatibility (for the gamma fix). Does anyone else have this problem?
btw: I'm trying to edit my cfg with Notepad like I used to with XP.
i would assume the file is marked "read only"
go to properties and remove the flag.
The same thing happened to me with linux, but I figured it out.
UAC suxx
Every time I uncheck the read only box and hit apply and ok and then go back under properties it's back to read only again. It does this with every folder I do it to. And if I try to save as a different name it tells me I don't have permission to save a file in this location and that I need to contact the administrator to do so. I'm the only user of this computer therefor I should always be logged in as the administrator, right?
