Hey guys,
I
've had this problem for a few months now and it really is starting to get annoying. Basically I can't exec a different name when I'm playing in server. I can change it manually using the menu system (i.e. menu -> options -> player name etc) but obviously I can't use special characters then. Even more strangely, I can exec my name in some servers whilst not in others. I've tried out in a few ffa servers and it is possible but in aim tag and beer, I can't.

Anybody have a solution?
Thanks, han.

make a "name.cfg" file with notepad in e+ dir with:
seta name "han"
then in e+ do /exec name.cfg

probably put it in wrong dir, usually people put it in conf, has to be in excessiveplus

The names are in my excessiveplus folder. I'm using Vista btw - Quake 3, excessiveplus, click on compatibility files and there I save my names in a text file (txt) in the form as seta name (name). To exec I just do \exec han.txt etc. I don't put in .cfg or anything.

And camel, how do I enable pure on other servers.

if you know its not working as a .txt why dont you try .cfg? seeing as that is the standard filetype for executing configs...

I changed the formats to .cfg and its working fine now. Making .cfg files in Vista is quite awkward but I managed to get a way round the permissions etc.

Thanks!! Case Solved.

It works like in xp, 2000, 98, 98SE and even 95. Just change the .txt into .cfg, thats all. If dont c fileendings, just change it in folderoptions.
