Well without proof, no bans should be issued in my opinion. Now I don't know what the demos contain yet obviously, but so far nobody else is pointing out anything specific and valid which kind of has to be done for demos to be used against him/anyone. Odd/strange/suspicious is just words that can be thrown anywhere and frankly it annoys the crap out of me when people do so without any substance whatsoever. If some one has a "bad feeling" about something I would like to hear why, else I "get a feeling" that people are just attention whoring and/or paranoid/sore losers (which is, in the end, mostly how it actually is). So either post some time stamps or elsewise explain what you find odd and why, or don't use demos against people because you can't.

The disconnecting and reconnecting thing; again it just an observation and I genuinely wonder why he does this. If there IS a decent reason or explanation this is not a point in his disadvantage either, and if there is, please let me know. I mean, reconnects and map_restarts can fix the jumplag bug; stuff like that. Doesn't make sense to me how that works, but fact is it does and therefore a reconnecter in this mod is not suspicious. However in this case it's like I said; he does not reconnect, he always leaves before mapswitch and comes back a bit after the next map has loaded, and always. I wonder why he always needs to do that when I only have the jumplag bug sometimes, and I wonder why he always needs to do that when once typically fixes it for the rest of my stay. I don't know, and it's not enough to "bust" some one but it is one thing that, without answers, remains open for negative theories and while as I said it's not enough with a theory and suspicion alone, enough odd unexplained things that pretty much just one guy in the entire community does deserves to be watched and questioned until there is an answer.

As for the .dll, it's tricky. On one hand, things like this can have another explanation than cheating, but it's hard to prove in either way. I've also already expressed that when such things happen, such as in the Panic case (which was another file but almost the same principle; nothing as clear as "VIOLATION: MULTIHACK" or whatever it says), I want to see the cheating, the impossible actions, for myself. This message is a proof that opengl32.dll has been altered (if I understood things correctly), not a proof that he cheated. As small as the difference is, it's there and that's my stance on it. However I'm not sure of the exact case here; if only a check was failed then it could be as simple as lagging out at a bad moment, which is what most often causes the random "md5tool" pb kicks with no particular reason given. I don't know how it works with the .dll checking though, just throwing out possibilities, just as much as I like to destroy cheaters I dislike to see innocent people be bashed so I have to try to stay neutral until I've atleast made up my own mind.

BUT, as Foksie already said, opengl32.dll altering IS one way to cheat and has been in many, many games since friggin' Quake 1. That definitely needs to be considered. And again, I return to it often, but Panic was in the end booted for not having his shit in order. I may be wrong, but opengl32.dll isn't messing around by itself either.

i agree. when all is said and done, the fact remains that nobody has as yet linked a demo which has DEFINITIVE proof that hes in fact hacking. (btw torz, those 2 demos dont really contain anything imo. apart from some weird stuff he does. nothing to indicate hes actually seeing people through the wall). in hazy cases like this, i think we should give the guy the benefit of the doubt, and continue to watch him closely. but then again thats just me, im naturally cynical of paranoid people looking for cheaters everywhere. Happy.

ps: if he is in fact hacking, its one of the stupidest hacks/uses of hacks ive heard of.

He didn't used to do the /reconnect until I told him about it fixing jumplags last year. Honest - his English is bad but it's good enough that he understood when I told him "/RECONNECT WILL FIX JUMPS!!!" lol

Yeah the possibility of that is why I gave him the benefit of the doubt (as wonko aswell advices), and all is well. The point that he disconnects and connects again instead of reconnecting, and also does this all the time when it is probably not neccessary most of the time is the only reason I brought it up. I think we all have seen the "plays bad, disconnects, comes back playing infinitely much better" scenario a couple of times too many Happy

It is hard to deal with people who can hardly speak English too Sad It's unfair to them because they can't defend themselves properly, and unfair to me because I can't abuse every slight mistake Big grin

Personally, i think simple heuristics should be used when cheaters are concerned. If enough things add up, ban.

Lets see what we have sofar:

Odd demos.
Reconnects after each map.
Busted for a hacked opengl32.dll

Is it enough?

for me it would be enough for a yellow card, but one other thing:
everyone who played agaisnt him was annoyed by his weird style.
is that normal?

how does that matter? if we went counting how many people get annoyed by a certain person ur never gonna have time to do anything else. besides i wasnt annoyed. so u can hardly use the term "everybody".

As far as i see, since pb detected something odd, it is a yellow card. That means, another such thing happens and its a red card.

Somebody should warn him bout that.

I am proud of spreading a pirated Excessive Plus version and claim to be the original author, yay!

The demos are completely clean from anything except fun whine x)
"I can't play with lag" is fairly unlucky when I've pretty much never seen him with less than 190 or so ping Big grin
