Coca-Cola or Pepsi
wrote:wrote:beer+cola:PI saw people do this in Germany. I think it's gross. But red wine and cola is actually quite good.
I've seen people drinking whisky and cola.
that's very commun. They even sale pre-mixed cans with both cola and wisky
It sounds disgusting.
i love wine & red fish with pieces of chocolate.
wrote:a common misconception that all bacteria are bad, more are better for your health than detrimental, you make it sound like coke is a breath freshener...
i've never written that all bacteria are harmfull. Of course we have a commensal flora, without it we cannot live dont make me say things that i did not say.
My point is coke isn't much more harmfull that many things we eat eery day that's it
nearly everything you eat/drink is harmfull for your teeth and dont forget that the acid kills bacteria in your mouth/teeth and that is not a so bad almost everything you eat is harmfull for your teeth.
hey man - your the one who said it..
if not harmful, why you write killing it is not bad..?
killing bacteria can be very detremental... hmm did you not understand what i meant when i said all bacteria arent bad..? anyhow you dont actualy kill the bacteria you stop teh reproduction process, but anyhow, it is the plaque that feeds on the sugar in the cola that is the real tooth fairy..
The only unhealthy stuff in cola is sugar or sugar mimetics nothing else
 i can see you've read up on the whole subject..
hey man - your the one who said it..if not harmful, why you write killing it is not bad..?
you have good and bad bacteria, i never said ALL bacteria are harmfull, many actually are, but there is still a comensal flora in your gastro instestinal tract! But actually in your mouth/teeth you have more harmull ones than good ones...that's why you brush your teeth...acid kind of clean it whereas sugar damage it. So it isn't more harmfull than eating sweeties...
so acid cleans your teeth eh... lol
ok... for those unaware what commensal bacteria are, they are bacteria that have symbiotic relationships with their host. commensal bacteria are 10 times more abundant in our bodies than human cells, they colonise the skin, mouth, urinary tract and the stomach.
Some commensal bacteria are potentionaly pathogenic, such as Staphylococcus. However the most have a beneficial or no (known) impact on the human host.
The thing that you inhibit through brushing your teeth is the build up of plaque, plaque is a coating on the teeth that is composed from mainly streptococcus, the plaque feeds on sugar and multiplies, when formed it encases itself and is now deprived of oxygen (the tooth side) the plaque now starts using anaerobic resperation (it will now reproduce without oxygen) this anaerobic resperation is what causes acid, it is this acid which decays teeth.
coke is corrosive, it has a pH of 2.5 and has enough, more than enough sugar to feed plaque. to put it into perspective:-
[code:1]pH Substance Base
14.0 Sodium Hydroxide
13.0 Lye
12.4 Lime (Calcium hydroxide)
11.0 Ammonia
10.5 Milk of Magnesia
8.3 Baking Soda
7.4 Human Blood
7.0 Pure Water Neutral
6.6 Milk Acid
4.5 Tomatoes
4.0 Wine & Beer
3.0 Apples
2.2 Vinegar
2.0 Lemon Juice
1.0 Battery Acid
0 Hydrochloric Acid[/code:1]
most foods as you can see here are acidic (pH below 7.
Coke is basicaly the same acidity as vinegar.
As well as all the bacteria doing their thing in your mouth there is also an enzyme called amalyse, this plays an important role in the processing of organic matter placed within our mouth.
the effects of pH values on the reaction rate of enzymes can be seen here. basicaly at pH 2.5 the reaction rate is next to nothing, im not sure if coke actualy denatures the amalyse or just slows the reaction rate down.
the good news is:-
coke is not as destructive to your teeth as some other drinks - see chart below.
[code:1]
DRINK TITRATABLE ACIDITY pH RELATIVE RISK
Grapefruit Juice 9.3 3.2 High
Orange Juice 4.8 3.8 High
Apple Juice 4.5 3.3 High
Cola 0.7 2.5 Medium
Diet Cola 0.5 2.9 Medium [/code:1]
so we see that grapefruit, orange and apple juice are very bad for your teeth. and what you will find is a relief, Beer is hardly harmful to your teeth at all
so now knowing what we know..
welcome to the new product..
dont even get me started on phosphorous....
wash your mouth after drinking it nubs! xD. that way ur teeth will be just fine and u can smile the million dollar smile while ur stomachs getting fucked up.

Any drink can be harmful to your teeth if its too cold, and especially if ur mixing hot and cold drinks (f.e. hot cofee and then immediatly after a sip of cold water). So IMO temperature also plays an important role.Back to topic,I remmember a test where they put an aluminum spoon in a glass of coke over night, supposedly the spoon was chewed up by the coke the next morning.Altho the acid in your stomach is much much stronger then coke itself. In short,Im not worried ;]
I drank alot of low quality cheap crap variations of coke, which are worse then original coke, and also cheap copies of orange and grape juices.I brush my teeth only twice a day and never had any problems.
