HQ if i understood it correctly such were the rules. If someone will not show up he will be disqualified (in short).
I guess there is a need to confirm the application next time. Like for example via email or something. I can easily imagine that someone could just add some other players to the cup list just for fun (strange sense of humour) or to get advantage. Because if you add enough fake players there is a big probability that you face such a ghost in one of the preliminary fights. So... you advance to the next stage automatically by WO. Thats why I think some way of confirmation is needed.
It is all very sad because Bo! put lots of work and passion in organizing this cup. And players that applied and didnt show up at their fight just have no respect neither to Bo nor to their opponents. Im not talking about Mulle or Deex because someone made some kind of strange joke with them... Just look whats happening... Freeze league didnt work out... Now some irresponsible ppl dont give a damn about the fact that some ppl are waiting for them to play - just dont show up and have it all deep in the ...
Bo, I hope you dont abandon the idea of organizing such a 1v1 cup...

Well HQ, its not the players that WANTS to play fault that their opponent dont show up, so they will advance to next round, and that part will stay the same in future Cups.
But there need to be some kind of validation of those that sign up. Its sad that when someone takes the time to organize something fun for the community has to take those measures though. It should have to be done, but there are always kids that think weird things are funny so...
