Dropping from 125 FPS to 4-6 then goes up again. Really unstable.
Like the topic says, my FPS goes from a stable 125, then down to 4-6, and stays there for about 40-60 seconds, then goes back to 125 and stays there for a few minutes, then this keeps going.Sometimes it's just crazy and jumps all around the place.
All other games (Action Quake 2 , CoD: MW2, and Batman: Arkham City run just fine in max settings, and I have a 20mbit connection).
It's really annoying, especially in a fast-paced game like EP. I NEED my FPS to get those kills.I've attached the config.cfg and autoexec.cfg (had to rename them .txt for the attach file thingy to work) in chase anyone would mind taking a look.I would really appreciate any help with this, as it's driving me crazy.I'm addicted to this game, and I still play it even though it lags like hell, so a fix would really make my year.
I've tried re-installing a fresh install of Q3, downloaded EP again, the only thing I copied from my old Q3 was my configs.I'm on Windows 7 64bit.If you need any more information, please ask.I really want to fix this. - donkeyhigh
edit: I am very willing to do drastic changes with my computer in order to fix this. I'll format the hell out of it if I need to. It's basically all I use my computer for anyway. EP3, Action Quake2 and music. But I would very much like to use Windows 7.
Do you have the same on small and big maps? First I would try higher com_hunkMegs >> 256. Try also with clear cfg, than you will know if its problem with cfg or something else.
Have you tried running Q3 under Win XP SP3 compatibility mode? You might try assigning just one core to it aswell.
its ur config which does that , no need for USELESS tweaks just exec this comms as listed
seta r_depthbits "24"
seta r_stencilbits "0"
seta r_stereo "1"
seta r_colorbits "32"
seta r_texturebits "32"
oh and turn the freakin Catalsyt A.I. off , it makes ur proc stay at 100% all the time ..
hf and welcome
I haven't glanced at his CFG, but how would any of the commands you listed cause the effect he described?
if u have ati card u'll know if u dont , then ..
Yes, Dropping 125 , go use 150 all!! edit pb setings plz
Thanks for all the quick replies.I actually found an old thread I made a couple of years ago, where I had the exact same problem.Followed some of the suggestions there, and downloaded a new CCC driver for my GFX card. Then manually set my fan speed up.Seems that did it, atleast made it allot better. Not perfect, but allot better. It's almost as if my GFX doesn't recognize Q3 as a 3D game, and just stays in defaultmode, and thus overheats and is to low clocked for the operation.
So tomorrow I'll try setting a specific profile for Q3 in my CCC options.See if that fixes it completely.
