with ubuntu for exemple it's easy to use wine. you are able with it to "emule" windows. here a list of compatible games.
http://appdb.winehq.org/

without wine, i think (please someone confirm it) all opengl pc games can run at linux.

about Fallout 3 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=963602

an ipod can be used with linux Tongue

tanks for this server Ben.

i dont know any ipod type or generation _not_ working on linux. if u got the mac version, u gotta change fs to fat32, but thats it. there are plenty alternatives (from synchronization to dragndrop) to itunes, even running itunes via some workarounds should be possible.

The point is, if u want something from windows into linux, u always need extra work, its not like "install", "press start" and play.

well...yup Happy

sure its your choice, your (spare-)time, your energy, maybe your frustration etc. however, for me it payed of for sure, but thats an individual thing. (still distros like ubuntu offer really easy and similar handling like windows + userfriendly step-by-step explanations for ppl wanting nothing more than a "running system").

(and ye, i realized, your post was a reply to that "m$ winshit" post. many linux users consider themselves somehow uber-cool, posing around with their "advanced" OS; not really offense mr.pope. however, claiming that certain things simply "dont work" on linux-based machines are prejudices or simply wrong, too.)

topic: umm good server for insta fans, i guess.

Well, to go deeper, some hardware support, software installation is a bit archaic, very little game support, apps (dozens of apps that all do the same thing but not ones that does what you need them too..subpar apps for a better OS) Too much reading redundant man pages for hours looking for that one paragraph that may actually help and then hoping it will work. Your forced to learn more about your computer than you really wanted or need to know. Dependencies suck.. you don't need to find them yourself nearly as much as you used to, but they still suck all around. Overly complex.

If you screw something it'll be very, very early in the morning as you stare blanky at a screen, incoherently mummbling "why won't you work, why?" Takes a while to get everything working perfectly
