/exec problem

Well, for some reason I can't exec files... I want to exec tags with this process, but it's not going so well. I've done the usual method,

create file, put seta name "(name)"
save it as "(name)". and I went the extra mile to make it a CFG file.
then go ingame and /exec (name)

Not working. I get this error.

Any help?

Are you using notepad to create these files?

Try removing seta and just put:

name "blablabla"

in the cfg file...

i have created like a hundred+ of those in notepad

when you make a file from scratch and save it, make sure it is saved as "phc.cfg"

cos pure servers only accept cfg file

if you just write "phc" it will be saved as a .txt file Winking

yes im using notepad, I tried removing seta, and the files are CFG files, yet still the same problem. Can any tech whizz read the error and decode it or something?? I'm fairly knowledgable when it comes to all this stuff, so it shouldnt be a stupid noob reason...

when you do /exec its not just file name, its extention too

/exec podboss.cfg

/exec phc.cfg

etc

sorry to be seeming cynical pr patronising, if that doesnt work, will look into it tomorrow

ok, kinda got it to work. Opened it with notepad rather than wordpad and it works, but I'm being kicked by PB for violation #151??

Well it works now. I fixed it by mistake by creating a file and using notepad rather than wordpad, and wahla! As soon as I did that I read the other files and for some reason the random text you saw in the screenshot, was in the file before the seta name stuff. Then I updated my PB, and did what Skull said. Thanks for the help guys!

Yes, always use notepad, since it's a simple text editor. Wordpad saves other information along with the text.
