Thats pure crap - both of them (pawel and panic) should be banned at sight and forgotten. panic story is like a screenplay of snatch - to many strange coincidence O.o.

When it comes to pawel - he doesn't even have -> ANY <- explenation, how did that cvar came into his cfg. O.o. wtf? ban them, end of story

Imagine one thing, u download q3 from web, there is already q3config in, from somebody, but u have no idea what a config is and so on.

u just install the game, discover a funny mod, than u play on different servers, u nver played a pb or pure server, just because u was not able to join them, but u had no idea why, but u want to play. So u play on different servers without any pb or pure, and u get better and better, and a clan beginns to interest for you.

you are quiet happy, think, cool, i will join a clan (but u have still no idea that u have strange cvars in ur config, because u dont even know what is a cvar nor a config).

So, u have ur first cw or whatever and u r forced to play on a pb/pure server, but u cant join, someone in ur clan gives u a cd-key and tells u why u cant join pure. So u look for it, that u can join pure servers (how fast u can depends on interest of player and his intelligence to use google correctly).

Than u play ur cw, and after 5 min u get kicked because of a "Cheat-Cvar", but u never have cheated and think, wtf.

Than u find a post of u in forum (because clanm8s tell u about it), but instead of getting help, u get punished (even u still havent cheated).

So, imo, if u get busted by just an cvar, this is no proof, it just shows that u have something in ur config, and md5tool shows such cvars of players.

Pb have 2 cheatlogs.
1st log is for defenitly used cheats
2 nd log is md5tool log, where are real proofs in (like for example the message ogc.dll), and just suspicions like this cvar, or this cvar.

In my personall system, i handle md5 like that, 1 catch = ultimate warning, 2nd catch = ultimate ban.

U still have to know, that these are just normal humans, some with more brain, some with less brain. But just imagine, u would have downloaded q3 somewhere, and u get catched for a cvar, and u even have no idea about what it is, or how simple u can clear the problems, how would u feel to get called cheater and banned from all servers.

so, if we begin to punish supicios people we have also to punish the clans who took them and havent proofed the person same way as the person, means dont allow them to play cws ranked or something.

btw, a HARDWARE BAN is unmisleading, that means 100 percent, that with this pc was cheated for sure!

and if u want, we can make pb much more secure as it is now, we can set guidrelax to 0! and dotn allow extended characters. so, we have just players with legal version of q3 and mustnt be afraid, that people abuse extended characters for hacks and cheats
