i made this short clip today from a demo made yesterday, no editing, just slapped the music.

the thing i wanna check is, what you think about pic quality compared to file size?

im experimenting with codecs atm, and would need a bit of input,

edit: i think youll see improvement in v2 Happy

ye thats my usual lag. Sad

but should i increase quality of the picture? like this, its about 190 mb per half an hour, wich i think is much lower than usual q3 movies.

and does anyone know a tool wich could smooth a demo? so i get rid of the lags. google didnt help, nor did searching own-age.com (altough i found one tool that could be of a bit o help in that).

You're using DivX 4 which is a bit old in the meantime. Try H.264, it's a very advanced codec with a high quality at a high compression rate. It's implemented in various HD formats such as Quicktime 7 HD and will be used for Blu-Ray discs and HD-DVD. There is an open source variant that works with VirtualDub as well.

standard sv_fps for demos is something low, and if you are moving at high ups then it gives a laggy effect...so when playing back demos, make sure sv_fps is set higher Happy

tyrant, thats my usual connenction, due to heavy lag Happy

btw i compressed it with x264

here is the new version, improved quality heavily, new codec (thanx para), higher resolution, antialiasing 6x, synced the music a bit, and hand eddited some frames. altough i wont use any of this in my actual movie, its a good test Smug
