G5 problem

We are having a problem with a G5 mouse on one of our computers. We originally had this problem with a borrowed G5 from upstairs, but this was when the computer was running Win ME. Since upgrading to XP, the borrowed mouse had worked perfectly. So, we bought a G5 for the downstairs computer assuming all would be well, but have found this problem is happening again Evil .

Basically, the mouse is fine in Windows and applications, but when playing Quake 3, it randomly decides to not fire. This is not a physical problem, the buttons are fine, i'm posting here as this only happens in Quake 3.

Mabye one in 20 times it won't fire, it is random and variable, but you can imagine it is very annoying and spoils the game. Anyone have any ideas? I have installed the mouse software now, even though the borrowed one worked without it, but it is still doing this. Any help much appreciated Happy

Well the best mouse on the market for gaming is Logitechs MX518.

I also get that lag that it wont shoot sometimes. It has nothing to do with the mouse, its something with Q3 and Logitech... Anyhow my mouse even keeps on fiering sometimes. I read that i was cus i used 1000hz but when i changed to 500 it dident go away.

I don't have to be careful, I've got a gun.

Same thing happens to me usually when i have lots of lag, weapon keeps firing or don't. This usually stops after lag is over....i think it has to do with pb scan.

I have to re-fire my weapon to make my fire stop. My problem has nothing to do with lags. Not that i have noticed atleast.

then u propably tested all mices....

from mine experience its look like that

510 > 518
for me mouse behavior in 510 is beter than in 518

btw when we got the event with players tower mine mouse were shoting automaticly very often (every second mouse1 usage), im run in the same moment 10 copies of q3 and got around 15~20fps
