Helloo

im interested in gettin a server (not a home-pc run) or 2 for the clan i represent...

I am crap @ net relations, so what are the possible options (and the costs)

From what I've seen, there are 2 options (i am probably wrong, this is just how i see it):

a) Rent a server (what are the standard rates in Europe/US anyway?)
Cool Get one of the big clans to "sponsor" your clan

I am just researching this topic to see what the options are for my clan, and not asking anyone for a server space, im jus trying to find out how that kind off thing is done...

  • Renting a pure gameserver Means rent a server from example http://www.inx-gaming.co.uk/game-servers BUT make sure they offer the mod u wish
  • Renting a full PC (Rootserver/Dedicated Server) http://www.inx-gaming.co.uk/dedicated-servers But here u need usually linux-skills but u can run more than 1 gameserver on it for nearly the same price as a gameserver-only
  • Find someone stupid who sponsors a server Happy (I dont have any available atm)

(Btw, rootservers in UK are costing 4-5 times more as in germany, rofl as i saw now in the example links (choose them, because i think u r from UK and this was the first search result, so, links just as example, there are tons of offers in the net))

Well, my clan definetely wont be renting our own server until im out of uni(even if we are, Polish or Russian FTP it is)

As i said Im only researching for now, to see what options I have, and turns out i dont have a lot so far...

P.S. thnx Mowli 4 da quick reply, the daytimes are really boring in Uni (i aint got my comp yet, so i am in a computer room with no msn), lookin @ da likes of myspace, e+ and jus random websites Sad Crying

P.P.S. I am from the U.K.(im Russian/Kazakh/Ukranian tho) but my clan is from all over the world (well almost mediterranean africa and all over europe), so a hosted server from central europe wouldnt hurt all of our IP's Tongue

ok, i fu are looking for more central server:

2!S/EN/ED and a guy from 1.16 are hosting 1 Rootserver together from http://www.ngz-server.de/rootserver_large/rootserver_large.php?site=rootserver&language=en

U know also 2!S Freezeserver i bet, and it is running also on this machine. Ping are for the most good, just some have a bad country-rooting to our server.

We hosted in past also from other companys, but thats the best server we had until now.

So, if u r checking out, ngz should be in ur closer chose.

Thnx mow, it now looks slightly more financially avaliable to a student with no job ;D

Seriously though, thnx 4 showing me the options, in a few weeks i should hjopefully be getting my student bursary, and if its a hefty sum obviously some of it might go to the good people @ ngz

in the meantime, gettin my computer is priority #1
