graphic issue
My question is what is the best graphic settings to run as smooth as possible?
Cause ive been having some problems with this.
I have stable 125 fps. But anyway it feels like graphic lags, bad flow.
I remember having this problem a long time ago. It is like i start quake at a certain resolution and the picture gets squeezed together horisontally so it was black at the edge of the screen. Before i could reset my cfg or change resolution and got rid of the problem. But now it feels like its bad flow cause of the resolution getting compressed from the sides.
I got c2duo, 1950xt, philips 22 crt, which can handle up to 160 hz in windows, and in q3 ive been using 1024x768 with 150 hz refreshrate (maximum), still having this problem.
People says com_maxfps should be same as r_displayrefresh but it doesnt make it better for me.
Max fps and refresh being the same is a big help but if your graphics still lag and you've changed your rendering and texture modes in your cfg, maybe try changing your gfx card settings in Windows? I know I gained a hell of a lot of FPS disabling certain options and enabling others on my gfx card settings panel. Hope this helps
hard i didnt really understand exactly what ur problem was. "flow" is a bit vague. so perhaps u could explain a bit more specifically?
but off the cuff its possible its a driver/o.s/monitor issue. check this out, it mite help. http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1031665.
try playing around with r_swapinterval, com_maxfps, and r_displayrefresh. and ur monitors actual maxfps setting. see how it affects the way the gfx lag feels. i realize that isnt exactly helpful but until u can narrow down what the problem is, its gonna be that way. .
ps: o and this mite also help http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Quake3/FPS_visuals.html
ahaha dont do that. they gonna cuss u for life.
anyone else get a lag problem when msn is open? I never had that problem until i upgraded my msn
I have random lags sometimes,up to this day cant figure out what it is,but tbh I havent been trying very hard But when Im playing everything is off,xcept miranda which is a low resource program,and I doubt it could cause drops from 125 FPS to 30 FPS...btw,its deffinetly not PB cause sometimes it happens after hour or two of playing,lasts for 5 seconds cca.

anyone else get a lag problem when msn is open? I never had that problem until i upgraded my msn
yep, msn requires 20mb of idle memory, along with other IM's can cause some packetloss ;}
a bit offtopic but does anyone know an msn client that doesnt hog resources? cos its bloody annoying having to log off everytime i have to play.
@hard
I understand u wanna use all what ur system can offer, but maybe u can try this 2 settings anyway.
- displayrefresh 125
- com_maxfps 125
- cl_maxpackets 125 (or 63)
or
- displayrefresh 120
- com_maxfps 120
- cl_maxpackets 120 (or 60)
@wonko
You have already a answer in this thread, try miranda.
thank you very much for fast answers..
Wonko that first link was great. Same kind of problem. And i think this almost fixed it
"deactivate EDID - its just this interface through which your card gets to recognize your monitor but sometimes it limits the card from giving the monitor an 'I WANT 120HZ BITCH NOW' command."
need to test some more but thx man..think im gona name my kids wonko
