greetings all, I recently downloaded the latest version of excessive plus, This time iam experimenting with a lot of the cool features that are in it. I've been in servers (350/400 Ping) and noticed alot of cool things, Like in one server, there is multiple jumping, 3 and even 4 times jump. thats pretty awesome. I've always been interested in server hosting / administrator of servers, I even tried hosting one 2 years ago in default quake 3, was always fun except the city of Darwin (in the North part of Australia), It's Internet connections get routed from a city 3,000 kilometers south in a city named Adelaide. This caused people 5 kilometers from me, to have a massive 160/200ms delay, due to the data/packets being routed south, then back north then vise-versa as the data returns from server > client..... client > server.

Apart from dropping in a post to say g'day. I have also have a question for the mod, Is it possible (now or in near future versions) of excessive plus to have server-side recording, That records everyone's individual views?. That will probly take some bandwidth/file space on the server, but it would be good to have an option.

Loss of Connection | Stream (QuakeLive Frag-Highlights)
The QuaTr!X | Download/Stream (Q3A Defrag)

First of all Welcome to Excessive Plus!
I personally am very happy that people of intelligence like yourself want to contribute to the community as a whole.
I can not help by any means with the server hosting, however it is not at all hard. There are very many topics in the forum about hosting, even 1 to 2 pages back and you'll find plenty of them. You can also search for them, so with 20 minutes of reading the forums and you will probably need everything you need to know about server hosting.
About the records, I do not know. However I do believe that implementing something like that in each server host is a bandwidth destruction. The records probably would need some autonomous program to record everything without intervention of a moderator, so I think for it to work it should be scripted.
Anyway, Welcome to E+ and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Hello!
Welcome to excessiveplus! We are glad that you like our mod here .. and we wish you to have nice stay Happy

About the server-side recording, yes the new features of ExcessivePlus 2.1 provides also a multi-view recording capability from the server-side. The file is recorded in the client side Happy like a normal demo but the data that is sent by the server comes from multiple client views. There is 1 more thing you must know about mvds (multi-view-demos) only a spectator can record mvds.

This is how you can make it work :

\startmvd to start the mvd record
\stopmvd to end the mvd record

Server must have this variable with a value bigger then 0:
\xp_maxMVD "1" (this is to limit the number of public simultaneous multiview demo recorders / maximum number of ppl that can record simultaneously a mvd )

to play it you do how you do with a normal demo. And to change the view while watching you can click to switch the next player or click with mouse on the player's name while the scores are showed Happy

If you have other questions don't hesitate to ask them in our forum Happy

Hi there dude, there were some australian players (and even clans) here in 2004, but alas, no more. But I always admired how such a small Continent, player-base wise, always has such active and friendly communities and tourneys. This being both in QL and UrT.

Have you ever met (or have heard of) DanDaKing and Noctis btw? two very good Australian duellers on the QL scene.

Noctis is Austrian, not Australian. Or are there two of them? Happy

Re: Greetings from Northern Australia.

hey guys. and thx for the comments!. - I have heard of DanDaKing before. I play QuakeLive, But not as often as i'd like to, Mostly due to connection problems Sad. QL is a big thing over here, Mostly Duel and CA, There used to be alot of CTF but it's kind of faded down in recent months.

Urban Terror was always fun, I played fair bit of it a few years ago, But never got back into it, For stand-alone mods based off Q3 engine, Padman has always been a favorite of mine.

Thanks for the commands cookiemon. cheers.
