hdd problem
well then your hard drive is about to die. already lost 4 of them with same simptoms. IBM ?
yeee heheh burned 6 of these bitches similar simptoms, but somtime SMART system on hdd ackting similar if on hdd are bad sectors
Took u only 3 months eh?
seems that its not a cable and its only dying when plaing games and never in windows so i think it might be the power suplay too small cuz when running games the video starts working on it full power....
yes you are right the power supply i have that problem i have maxtor a bit old hard but when i was copying my BACKUP stuff i had like errors and i had to copy it one more time (9gb) all over again and i discover that my hard disk is loosing power strange yea but that is his (or) mine fault when i was dl-ing torrents etc... and when i copyed backup every f.. file was renamed let's say for example readme.txt > (to) REA~1 and every file i have like 5gb of backup music and every file is f..king ~1 renamed that is wicked  and i will have to delete all of it buy and the problem solve is to buy new hard hmm lets see The Seagate® Barracuda® ES enterprise hard drive - SATA 3.0Gb/s 750GB ST3750840NS  and viola!

I got the same problem. And its not the power issue, and not the cables, but somewhere between mainboard and HDD. In my case it seems to be more of a shitty K7VMM mainboard problem.
When I try to install FreeBSD it shows that there's a UDMA CRC errors and hdd gets crazy. Same when I do much copying (but not always in Windows) it switches off. I think its mainboard problem, becous i changed second HDD and it happened again.
sometimes my hdd turn off it self, it is my second hdd where i keep my games, videos, pics... no os there. in my pc it is next to scsi hdd wich get much more hot than the one i have problem with.
any ideas? help?
FREEZE IT!!
people try shaking your hard drive that is nice:)

True! Sometimes it turns off, and my PC stops only mouse can move, but if I shake my HDD it turns on back again. Worst is that it switches off again in few secs, so first what I do I shutdown PC and start it again.
that was a tape cable
