I stop smoking NOW!
I am a heavy smoker, since I am 13. I began with 11. I tryed already over a dozen times to stop smoking. Sometimes a while with success. Nevertheless I fall backagain and again into the addiction.
I try now again to stop. I will use this thread as kinda diary, i will write down how i feel, wether i relapse or wether i am stable, if i shake etc...
Who wants can join in, or who already stopped can tell his experiences, or simply give only tips.
I personally will not use any aids. I want to beat the addiction finally, it can not be that the nicotine is stronger than I.
Last ciggarette is now 15 mins ago...and i feel already that the addiction is stronger than ever, just because i have the intention to stop... lol
so what do you want, a paper hat and a whistle?
but gg
u can no smoke few years, anyway u will smoke again

A friend of mine stopped it with a book. (Dont remember the name)
He was a strong smoker and tried it often to stop, but he allways got the desire to smoke a cig.
This book was like someone, who's telling him, that smoking kills and smoking is senseless, the whole book long.
He was a strong smoker and tried it often to stop, but he allways got the desire to smoke a cig. After this book he stopped smoking with a good feeling, without thinking on cigarettes the whole day.
try uri geller no seriously i think no aids is the best method.. i smoke since im 15 (21 now) and i also tried to stop a few times, my best was 3 months without a cigarette (and without a joint too ), the only aid i used was chewing on toothpicks <- recommendable, really it helped
Mow its all in the mindset...i was smoking since 15 and gave up just before uni (and lasted 2 years till re-starting again at old job cos smoking breaks were fun there ... Gave up for second time just before new year ) ... For me the trick is about the mind-set, and the approach. You will get less urges if you think "i can have a cig any time but i just dont want to"instead of justinking "want smoke but must resist" which will just wind you up, even usual "is good for health" phrases will seriously wind you up at times of urge if you dont see it the first way (and to be honest the first way too... But you end up having moral debates in mind or with mates "do i want a cig?"-"nah dude you gave up"-"just 1 wont hurt"-"no youre giving up"-":@"). External factors are a help too. Last year in early december i had a blood coughing lung infection and that was both a massive catalyst and all the help i needed.

help my mother and alot of people to stop smoking without problems after 1 week no weird cigarettes anymore...
no cost when u go to the doctor...
Don't mind the naysayers, Mow. I remember, every time i tried to quit, i always had everyone around me saying 'i couldn't do it' and pissing me off by smoking themselves. Buncha fuckers. Like Shady said, the mindset is absolutely crucial. You need to convince yourself you have everything under control at all times. What helps is looking at the cig and seeing what it really is - not something you want to smoke, but just some paper and tobacco. Crushing one between your fingers also helps.
Also, you should deliberately try to avoid lenghty conversations and small, crowded areas, since every damn thing will piss you off sooner or later, i noticed that those two things are the most rage inducing and make you want to smoke like hell.
Obviously, knowing all that and still smoking, this is not How to Quit Smoking Guaranteed! 95% of the success is in your head.
u got the will for it mow, gl.
I am a smoker and i don't want to quit, but one night i got real drunk... 3 days from that point on I couldn't stand the smell of a cig and in the forth day i lighted the first one after the break. So you can try my experience.
For some ppl, works with shocking photos of ill lungs (the ones with hols in them) like this one:
nood, that is exactly what i asked for ..., precocious gossip does not interest me.
