invisible HDD 1,5tb on winXP
Hey ppl! Need some help. After fresh winXP SP3 install all was working fine, but dunno why, maybe after some win-update it stopped to see my seagate barracuda 1,5Tb HDD. Second system win7 see it clearly without any blur Any ideas would be apreciated. Thx in advance.
hi Doc
look at storage administration in xp (i dont remember right name cos i dont use xp more than year). Sometimes hdd have to be assigned before use.
Do you have this hdd formatted? Stupid old XP doesnt show you disks without file format
Thats all, i hope it will help you to solve your problem
Yeah, XP hates dynamic disks. There is not much you can do about your problem without risking the loss of all the data, i'm afraid.
If you do want to take the risk, read this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913964
Navigate to "workaround" section.
win7/vista use a newer ntfs version... i think thats the problem why winxp cant read ur hdd.. if u format ur hdd with vista/7 an older partitionsmagic cant read ur hdd too
which mobo do you have and which network adapter do you have? I will try to help ya
thx Beazty, now everything solved by downloading newest software for motherboard, which has splitted drivers where i can turn off storage device driver install coz install them still f**k up this dynamic drive.
THX all for helping, especially Beazt
Why? You solved your problem, not me
FYI:
In case of HW problems with 7200.11 series of seagate there are the next information may be useful for someone:
1. Seagate KB
2. The final solution
hdd was formatted and contain all my movie\music files and its almost full and i dint have another place for backup 1,5tb neither friends have
btw administrative tool says its dynamic disk but cant be read, win7 admin tool says its dynamic disk also but read it without any problems.
btw using xp pro sp3 system so it must be allowed to use dynamic disks :\ and it worked after i installed it, but stopped dunno why ((
