Is that a laptop? I would suggest you get a desktop for things like that.

First of all, i dont think that you will be able to get this system any cheaper anywhere. 900 $ are OK. The only thing that really sucks is the Graphic-Card. Like in over 90% of all Notebooks Happy .
But when you do nothing more than playin Quake and PROCESSOR- intensive tasks, think about it, if you need a new system. OK, your currently Graphics-Card sucks badly too Winking , but i think its OK for Quake3.
Be honest; you just want another toy heh Big grin ?

Btw: I see you like Notebooks (mybe you need em), but if not, think about a desktop PC. Youll get more for your money.

hehe, you got me.... I want a new toy!!

I wanted a laptop because I work with them and like their mobility. Desktop is an option if for the same price I get a system that will kick ass.

What desktop can I get for $600 excluding LCD panel?

These are my toys: Inspiron 9100 for Q3 and personal use (left laptop), Latitude D610 for work (right laptop), Viewsonic 20" LCD for laptop (left), Linux server (right).

It's time to replace the 9100....

I can't find any review for the 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 HM. Does this card suck for gaming and graphic design?

For $20 more, I can get a 256MB NVIDIA GeForceGo 7300 TurboCache, but again... no experience with any of these Sad

What would be really nice is to have a desktop with two kick ass video cards driving two 20" LCDs... If I get this for the same price as a laptop, I'll ditch the laptop deal Tongue

Don't decide just now lol take your time and compare both graphic cards, I'll try to find some prices on components and see if a better pc can be built for such ammount.

Exactly! You could go to a tech con and buy better hardware and assemble a computer twice as fast for $500 and use the other $400 for... whatever you'd be inclined to use $400 for. Winking
