Insert Windows XP installation disc into your CD-drive.
Reboot computer.
At some moment you should see "press any key to boot from cd"
press any key
after 1-5 minutes you should see blue screen giving you some options
If it won't show
reboot your computer
enter to BIOS (usully by pressing F2 or DEL right after first starting your computer"
check BOOT PRIORITY and set there CD-ROM/DVD-ROM at first place
reboot
windows XP installator should run now, if not call Microsoft Customer Help Line - you paid for license for their precious operating system so those greedy fuckers have to help you with it.

ps. if you hard disk is serial ata, you may have to load some specific drivers, check your notebook user manaual

it's fdisk and you could use it in MS-DOS to check if your partitions are ok.

Type [code:1]fdisk /status[/code:1] to see the partition info.

If nothing comes up, you could try [code:1]fdisk /mbr[/code:1] to rewrite the Master Boot Record.

If it detects any partitions use [code:1]fdisk /cmbr driveID[/code:1] (ie. C has drive ID 1, D has drive ID 2 etc) to recreate the Master Boot Record on the specified disk.

i know exactly your problem. dont you have an Acer? Hehe, problem is that you have to install SATA drivers. But Win XP instalator allows loading of sata drivers only from FDD drive which has accesible like A. And its very big problem on notebook which has no floppy drive

So. I recommend you to download NLITE software. This program allows you to modify your win XP instlalator. One of many options of this program is posiibility to add specifical drivers. So install NLITE on another computer and follow the steps, add sata drivers to instalator, make the iso cd image, burn it via Alcohol 120% to some CD, insert this CD into your NTB and boot it Winking

In my notebook I have also SATA disk, and I can install Win XP without any problems. AFAIR since WinXP SP2 there is no need to install sata drivers from floppy, cause sp2 has them integrated.

In your bios disable AHCI (AHCI-Disabled) , or slipstream your drivers into a unattended Installation like for example nlite

And your prob is gone !!! Big grin
