LCD Monitor FPS Question
wrote:as long as i get a picture of what i´m doin in this game its enough for me
Very good, the question is though when do you want it ?I have a 2ms viewsonic, i like it but this thread is making me wonder if i should get the old crt out of the attic and give it boothes day in the sun
well if i get it right it would just matter in situations with aimbot reactions(shame on me if that´s not right ). i use a lcd monitor too and i cant remember many situations in wich it would have made a difference.
design > usability

ur totaly wrong, time of pixel color to color change has nothing to do with human rection time (reflex)
I have a Samsung 19 inch LCD machine and i can honestly say, i dont see any difference.
Infact i dont see any ghosting or all those other phenoma mentioned in some of the posts
I dont know if this helps but i have a GTX 8800 G card, Intel core Duo 2.67 Ghz processor - 3 Gb ram not 4 Gb( thanks to Ms XP )
My question is - Maybe with a less powerful machine you see all those things ?
- i use 1280 * 1024 resolution with 60 as screen refresh rate.
@ratz, LCD will be always worse in q3, i have at home iiyama 2ms and its quite fast but still video in q3 isint correct as it is on crt
What matrix is that iiyama? I am talking only about modern lcd's on modern matrixes.I also said some manufacturers write on box 2ms but in reality it can easily be 8 or more.
viewing angles on lcd was always most flustarating me thing ever, i cant stand when colors get messed up due to angles
Its beeing improved, take a look at this NEC model.

There u can clearly see difference between TN and ISP matrix.
LCD structure is always 1:1 so im not exacly know what about u talking pixels on LCD emiting light or not, the ratio wich will not make eny influence on graphic look is 1:1 (native) and 4:1 cuz u cant make light on 2 or 3 pix only withnout macro geometry issues
I maybe used wrong word... 1:1 pixel mapping, not ratio.I got to talk with the admin of the forum personally,he nicely explained that it means the picture is of equal quality in resolutions lower then native, there is no scaling or blurry image on lower resolutions, and he also said not all LCD's have this function.
Also some more about ghosting:

Note only left pictures, which are mostly shown on the screen, right pictures are transitions.
Concerning refresh rates and the way LCD's are build, lcd doesnt flicker. The pixel is either lighted or turned off,so the picture is static.
I will try to get my friend to let me try quake III on his dell 2007WFP,then I will know for sure how the fast S-IPS matrix behaves on this game.Oh yeah, and if u look at that review of nec,u can see that IPS on 6ms is equivalent to TN matrix on 2ms.
oh cmon - its personal taste. Hq is maniac with insane reflexes so I guess for him lcd may be the bad choice - for others like me its not making any diference. I personally own LCD and would not change it - however the color matching was more accurate in my old monitor. But hell Im mainly making designs for web. For print I've got CMYK and Pantone probe - and just use the values for specific colour. No need to buy Barco monitor for sure
Anyway - what I wanted to say is that at this moment - some will like more candies and other sausages
@ratz, can u explain me how this pixel maping works then, couse knowing a litle of panel structure i have in my head that efect about u talking with lower resolutions fizicaly just cant work, and im dont know i did saw monitors with this system or not, i did saw plany of LCD's and on noone of them it wasynt look same in lower resolution
the iiyama about what i do talk is e1900s TN 2ms
also did have for some time 22" wide iiyam, its looked the same as des have on his desk but i dont remember model it has also TN 2ms screen
these screens are nice, but still i can easly find cans on them
about links u did posted, hmm i should take closer look on IPS screens then, on pictures still it dosent look perfect but it might be mine laptop screen only couse its tramendoush shitty
the test with car they did made, well i was doing it to but like 2y ago there is program and u can set speed of moving of that car, but just think when u do make 180flipshot pixel transation is way faster than this car can ever move and then CRT>LCD
ah well, how many crts can u fit in the boot of ur car for lan parties? 2. how many tfts? 6+ with tactical layout:D
i do couted how many of LCD's will fit trunk of garbage truck, and from mine calculations is 500% more than CRT's
thx for the info guys
