Also I notice organizing E+ World Cup Of Nations that alot people known well in comunity was have alot problems with purity of clients, and that is verry sad. Fortunatly I did not see anyone who have wallhack or etc. Some serious shit. In that case I will report it on forum. Fortunatly I havent such a case. I help those people to pure their clients. So, my recomandation is play CWs with PB ON and PURE ON, ONLY :!:
If You wanna play failrly and not be cheated by anyone and wanna play TDM you use TDM server it is always PB ON and PURE ON, also you can check your purity there. I notice also that some people havent pak7.pk3 and pak8.pk3 and server kick them after while not emidiate kick. So, I send to them those files and they now can play as pure.

What is PunkBusterTM : PunkBusterTM is service which prevents to use other cheats which cannot be forbiden with pure Q3 server. :!: Initialy ID SoftwareTM produce Quake3 with Punk Buster client. Also ID Software make switch Pure Client ON and OFF. Also PB client on and OFF. Meaning of punk Buster service is to handle other cheats which canot be handled with pure server like I said. So, you have to update your PB client on regular bases. Also server owners have to watch any progress on http://www.evenbalance.com and make apropriate changes on Server side PB and PB cfgs. PB is service which can find on client any known cheat codes which are in DLL files which are linked usualy from q3 cfg file, not neceserily. Most common known cheats are autoaim, autoshot or both. Alot other cheatcodes which are not so eclatant as so called "Aimbots" exists. With PunkBuster TM server admins can ban people with CD key which are unique GUID="Global Unique Indentifier" so every use on client side have UNIQUE number wich represent him. Some extreme abuser can be in theory globaly baned on all Q3 servers.

I also must wrote here one myth. Usualy AnttiPunkBuster people say that PunkBuster ON on server make lags. Lags ocured only on servers which havent good bandwith or servers which havent enough processor power, but ONLY IN CASE WHEN SOMONE NEW CONNECT. Then PB service scan client. And even in that case when server have lack of processor power or bandwith or both I am for that little lag reather then somone cheat on me.
IF YOU WANNA PREVENT CHEATING WITHOUT 0-24 WATCHING SERVERS, MAKE THEM PunkBusterTM WELL CONFIGURED AND UPDATED, ALSO MAKE THEM PURE. ONLY THAT CONFIG WITH REGULARY UPDATED SERVER PB SIDE GARANTEE FAIR PLAY TO ALL ON PARTICULAR SERVER :!: PUNKBUSTER ON WITHOUT PURE SERVER ON HAVENT ANNY SENCE :!:
[/][/]Not fully correct. I have tons of maps in my baseq and i am pure anyway on each server.

Pure disregards models and maps when determining purity.
It defines map or model by files that are in it.
Maps or models CANT have any extra scripts atached, or they are marked as unpure. Many models do, but few maps.
If you still get kicked for unpurity, move all models elswhere. If it still continues, try moving some maps.
Defrag maps are the ones that most often have extra scripts attached.
Please not that, even though you are considered a pure clients, all models and maps not on server will be disabled.
So, for example if you use the fragbox model, on pure server you wont be able to.
Nothing else cant be there.
If u write this, please tell the people where to put the maps. Because correct is, just files which don’t influence the original paks must be deleted from baseq.

For example low-explosionsfile doesn’t have any effect to pure client. It just doesn’t work on pure servers, but server does not kick you.

Pure does check the size of the file, that is correct, pure does not kick you for any customfiles which does’t effect the original files. They just doesn’t work. For example u have custommodels they won’t work, ur Q3 will just load the original models. Mainly cheatfiles does effect original files. Barely maps or models. (I don’t say it couldn’t be, but it is rare.
Also you have to disable autodownload swich and on that way forbide to your Q3 client download into baseq folder. After while you have to check your baseq folder. And if you find anything what dont belong in baseq delete.
This is named a bit extreme, but sure Rena, for normal users it is the best way to avoid evil surprises. For example players like xp-loopy, lol, who gets banned again and again for low-explosions-file and he don’t delete it, because he have no idea what happened, instead of reading banmessege.
New maps download manualy from server that maps are with ZIP extensions. When You download map, just rename extension ZIP with pk3 extension and put that file in EXCESSIVEPLUS folder.
This is in most cases wrong. U have to check first, if u downloaded a pk3 or zip. If u downloaded a pk3, u don’t need to unzip it, or rename it in anything. Just put it in baseq . If u downloaded a zip, u should check first if what is in it. So, open the zip with winzip or winrar and if u c a map.pk3, u have to unpack it and put it in ur baseq-folder. And if u c files like .bsp or something, u close ur winzip or winrar again, and rename .zip to .pk3. Otherwise u can produce a zip in a zip, this can lead to problems.
A guid like that I tried to make in past, but I did not find any time for it to prove all what I write, if it is correct or not.
So, my respect for you, as soon ur post is 100 % correct, I will add this thread to my signature.
I found a way to get passed the chance of getting un-pure if you run a server on the same computer. Copy your whole Quake III Arena folder and paste it in your Programs folder, than just name it Quake III Arena Server

IMO is better to put custum maps in EXCESSIVEPLUS folder because majority here play only this mod. And on that way I think is better solution. Also if somone use same PC as client and server is better solution what I suggest
I dont agree with u abut put map in excessiveplus folder. All folder will be scan in pure server baseq3 and excessiveplus. But is one different. If u will have maps in e+ folder in other mod u cant play on that. Sometimes when ppl has too much maps in baseq3 is prob with pureserver. Fix: del some maps.

I just wanna explane why I post about pure so radical method: Because verry experianced users have alot trouble with all that purity stuff and I use alot my time to help them, you can imagine how than will be with less experianced. So, IMO is better to put custum maps in EXCESSIVEPLUS folder because majority here play only this mod. And on that way I think is better solution. Also if somone use same PC as client and server is better solution what I suggest About custom maps you are right about ZIP stuff. But I always download maps from spider link and so far I always find that ZIP file is actualy PK3 file.
