Merry Christmas!!

However i wanna point out that Romania have Orthodox Christian Church and we celebrate the Christmas on 25 December .. so i don't think if the related Orthodox Church ^_^

but more its about the Church in relation with the Calendar types:
7 January - Gregorian Calendar
25 December - Julian Calendar

You are right that about calendars. But, if I know well, exist Catolic and Ortodox Christians (and I think one more type but only in one part of GB). Maybe I am wrong... Big grin
Quoting from >>> here <<<
"Russian Christmas
Thirteen days after Western Christmas, on January 7th, the Russian Orthodox
Church celebrates its Christmas, in accordance with the old Julian calendar.
It's a day of both solemn ritual and joyous celebration"

Re: Merry (Ortodox) Xmas!

yes! and also this:

Quote:

Despite all the civil adoptions, none of the national Orthodox Churches
have recognised it for church or religious purposes. Instead, a Revised Julian calendar
was proposed in May 1923 which dropped 13 days in 1923 and adopted a
different leap year rule. There will be no difference between the two
calendars until 2800. The Orthodox churches of Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, and Bulgaria adopted the Revised Julian calendar, so until 2800 these New calendarists would celebrate Christmas on 25 December in the Gregorian calendar, the same day as the Western churches

what i say is only that: Orthodox Church celebrate on 7 january or 25 december depending on the calendar, (both dates depending on the calendar type)
