I'm thinking of getting a mouse mat. In my town we have like one good place to get computer stuff and they only have the Razer Mantis series (speed and control). So, getting to the point, I have a few questions:

Are the mantis series good and is there a difference between the speed and control one? I use low sens (25 centimeters to a 360) so should i take a low sens oriented mat, does it make any difference.

Are the steelpad better than the Razer ones?

In the end, what would you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, I'm thinking about getting a G5, does it react better to a certain type of mouse mat? And is it a good choice?

I dont know much about the mantis, but I'm sure you can buy a steelpad qck+ (good quality + price + big (for low sens)). I have it myself and it's a great pad.

i have a g7, which is identical to a g5 except wireless, and it works really well with a steelpad 5L...however, i think its the most expensive pad on the market - but imo its worth it Smug there are other mats, like qck that u could consider, but really, they all do the same job (some may disagree)....its just 5L looks nicest Big grin

if ur mouse has good teflon pads, then it shouldnt matter what pad you choose, all up to how much u wanna spend. however, be careful with dark surface pads with laser mice, as some surfaces are temperamental/dont work with g5 at all (i think its due to the reflection of light on the pad that the laser interprets, im not totally sure, maybe one of these guys can explain)

I've got a Steelpad aswell, and i think its well worth the money. I use an MX 518 mouse on it,and it suits me nicely.

I have mantis speed and I also tried mantis control in the shop.Mantis speed is not that good,it has a certain level of friction which is 2 high for me personally and it takes alot of time to get the pad working like it should, the control version which I only tried in shop is imo better then speed and now I regret that I didnt take that one,imo its even better then qck+,which I also posess, and qck+ is much better then mantis speed, the glide is good and smooth as soon as u take it out of the box.Take the mouse with u in shop and try them both if ure stuck with razer pads.

most ppl use setup: g5/mx518/mx510 + qck/qck+

small list ppl who use it: me, drill, hq, marcus, driv, trance, ratz, bert, atwa, ar4x and many other..

from my side:
i have few pads like: funk f-10s (price like steelpad 5L Smug) and i think its worst pad than my old qck (i've used qck for 1.5 year). It work great with all my mouse mx 510 518 and now with g5. Ihmo qck: high quality for nice price.
