Hi to all music makers on e+. I just started a grindcore band whit a friend of mine and we were asking how to record on a computer and what good softwares to use for shaping sounds, put tracks together, timing, samples ?
I would recommend starting off using Propellerhead Reason 1.0 2.5 or 3.0. It's a Virtual Software sequencer which will allow you to get used to creating basic drum patterns and looping sounds and instruments, It has its own Soundbank of sounds you can use.
If you want to record your own samples (shaping sounds)
Sony Soundforge 8.0 is essential. You can sample from dvd,cd,tv,mp3, just about anything, and save them as mp3/wavs.
When you have understood the basics and have rough backing tracks and maybe want to start recording live instruments like electric guitar, you will need a program like Steinberg Cubase SX
PM me if you need any more info
what i understod is that he wants to record all instruments...reason wouldn't be the best prog
thats right, he will be best off using Cubase in that case
