New Mouse...
Hey guys,
it looks like, that my 8 years old microsoft sidewinder mouse dies
Now I'm looking for a new one with just 2 requirements.
It should be white and have at least 3 buttons on the left side. (Always missed a third or fourth button on my sidewinder)
Atm i found 3 mice with this requirements:
- Roccat Tyon
- Corsair M95
- Mad Catz R.A.T. 5
Personally I prefer the Mad Catz, but i saw that i can't set the polling rate...
Now my questions:
- Is it really necessary to set the polling rate manually?
- Does anybody have experience with these mice?
- Does anybody knows a other one with my requirements?
Thanks
I cant suggest you a good mouse, but if you miss a mouse with extra buttons, fixable polling rate and up to 3500 DPI(okay doesn't fit the requirements, fuck those) here's a symmetrical MSI DS100
description and related: http://www.msi.com/product/mm/Interceptor-DS100-GAMING-Mouse.html#hero-overview
and price is 20 something £
I'd go for RAT tho, I fucking love that mouse.
I think there is a very old polling rate thing that works even for a cheap 800dpi mouse but that could deep fry your motherboard/ports so dont try unless maufacturer has a switch in driver app
I had a Roccat Kone, will never buy their crap again as it just didnt feel very good in terms of build quality, and the scroll wheel failed after like 1 month of buying it... Shame cos I really like their brand and design haha.
For me, durability is key so i'll always go with Logitech. Had my first gen mx518 for 11+ years now, played every single game of e+ with it and its still going strong!

I only reply because you did mention the mx518 and how much build quality matters to you, well the most faulty part and annoying one in mx518 was the god damn scroll wheel itself xD
idk if my mx518 was some different model, but damn, scroll wheel facked up pretty fast and was making this annoying noise, even my current cheap gaming mouse have a lot better scroll wheel than mx518 had since the beggining
one of those (optical mices) for fps games are the best:
-Logitech G502
-Logitech G402
-Razer DeathAdder
-Zowie FK2
-Corsair M45
-Steelseries Rival
I go for zowie fk2 :] but one of those will work just fine.

Zowie eVo DA style, EC1 or EC2 depend on claw size))
Well for me the 1st gen one has survived over a decade without any problems... However the 2nd gen one i bought (you can tell as they made the teflon feet bigger), the left click kind of had a 2 part click which was really annoying. Maybe some manufacturing inconsistencies...
But I've been to about 5 lan parties and moved house about 4 times in the past 10 years and this mouse has always stayed with me If it breaks now i'll cry...
ofcourse you haven't had any problems with it if you didn't have any other (optical) mice to compare it to (i guess). You will immediately notice a difference while playing with an optical mouse.
Found new one, the EpicGear Cyclops X. It's a optical one. Is much
difference between a laser and a optical mouse? My sidewinder is a laser
mouse and never had problems with this accelaration problem and I'm a
ultra low senser. (40cm for 360°)
