Ahoy to all! It all started (gee!) when me and a friend of mine decided to remember the "good old times" with a game or two of dm17 (last time I played this game, Q3 was... = dm17), so on the way to the "Create" button, the server list popped up in a split of a second with all these 'excessive' signs around, so I decided to try it...and pretty much liked it. Happy So decided to eventually run my own server at home as I appearently did. Anyway, enough for the intro.

The reason I'm posting this thread is to get some feedback and suggestions for the server, meaning settings, lag and so on and so forth. Community experience is priceless compared to reading any doc file (to which I'm very used to as a Linux user).

The server's IP address is 85.187.36.94:27960. It's mainly in CTF mode as I really like teamplay, etc. Any feedback, suggestions, critiques are all good and welcome.

Thank you. =: )

Thanks for the warm welcome, it feels like a friendly atmosphere around here. Happy

BUT one issue arose in the process - Punkbuster! I fear the thing got me banned from all Punkbuster-enabled servers - and I REALLY don't know why!

Here's what I did in a couple of steps:

1. Used the Linux version of THIS tool to update my Punkbuster (as I did for RTCW:ET for example).
2. I read that E+ requires some pb variables to be changed, and they were already in the cfg file I download from HERE.

pb_sv_enable
pb_sv_guidrelax 7
pb_sv_extchar 1
pb_sv_emptyname 0

3. Ran the server from the q3ded executable as normal, then tried to join it...and that was it - permanent ban!

I'm searching for a logical explanation, but I was unable to find one since then. Talking of cheats is hilarious, at least not if cg_drawGUN 0 and cg_fov 120 are cheats! lol These are the only things I've changed from the fresh Q3 install...any ideas?

RTCW:ET is not Quake 3

So pb cfg from RTCW et has some strange restriction for q3 ppl.

Perhaps you have an empty/banned cdkey? Try changing it. Also, it's possible that something got mixed up while pb was updating, download pb and install it manually. Other than that i dunno wtf could be wrong I don''t want to see Maybe post the pb ban message here?

You just don't know how right you are! Probably if I was more familiar with the pb banning system I would have guessed it myself. That was the problem. Thanks.
