Depending on the workaround, this Issue is either classic or new. Since quake3 code has been checked tons of time by tons of coders I bet its classic and new for you. The fastest way is probably a custom coded purehack.

Making a new quake3 release would disable punkbuster, then with a very slight modification all the Cheats from past are avaible once again. OGC, Shinaku, M0nk3y... Rings some bells?
And why is it even worse if we release a new quake3 version? Because we have to give the source code with it, any public programm based on the engine has to. We could spend money and buy the engine from idsoftware for commercial purpose so we don't have to release it. With some altering of netcode and some other small stuff we could have a cheat free environment till someone reverse engineers.

Also I was angry at Maja because of cheating, not because she didn't give me the code. Last thing is her free choice to give the files to someone she trusts.
What is more about it - how can you expect other peoples to play fair if you cheat urself? In the end, the best cheater wins - or in a mod with good anticheat, the best Player - since a good Anticheat forces everyone to be humanalike.

You complain about potential cheaters diablo? Then do something. Oh yes, lets code a new game with similar weapons and gameplay, we use streamed textures, game engine and maps, have a rootkit on the clientpc capturing screenshots, mousedata, keyboard data and sound, disallowing network to lan PCs, disabling demo feature, have a server side anticheat, having synced gameserver against server hacks. We can increase this list until we know as much about a person as any secret service about a normal person they are observing. Best is still to access brain and check in memorys if someone is a hacker based character.

I know some basics, they allow me to judge more precisely then other people.
You can use demos for having a Item counter seconds precise on your second pc if you want.

i don't complain about any cheaters, and i won't do anything, i don't care, cheaters are like a disease, like aids, they're hidden and invisible, with fucked up characters and wrong or absent ideals, will always be present as long as will be a possibility to cheat. since i realized this, i totally deleted from my mind the topic "cheaters" and focused only on gathering fun from my games without think who is my opponent. if i suggested maja to confess it's not for fight cheaters but for her personal purpose.
