Yeah there are a lot of cheap imitations that are indeed mostly not any good at all. I just try everything I can get my hands on once so I can get the can But yeah f.e that red can ("320 RED" or whatever) was the most disgusting crap I've ever tried, literally couldn't even down half of it. The "Frank's" cans on the left (and the "Energy Drink" next to them) were perfect examples of what you described.

I liked Burn, Cult and V the most by far, and they all actually taste somewhat different (and not just "cheap" which they aren't either). Guess I got tired of Red Bull when that was the only thing around (here). It just tastes like this in liquid form anyway.

(p.s: that pic is the scariest thing i've seen all week O.o he's got far worse issues than drinking energy drinks (if he even did) )

It works a bit like cocaine (it is dopamine and adrenaline/nor-adrenaline reuptake inhibitor), i mean its sth between cocaine and amphetamine. Although you can make metaamphetamine from pseudoefedrine, but the reaction is a bit more complicated.
