When I try to start Q3 I get the message.
GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem
Anyone know a way to fix this problem?

Last week I sawr a film, as I recall it was a horror film. Walked outside into the rain. Checked my phone and saw you rang and I, JIZZED. IN. MY PANTS.

tried default q3config.cfg?

What do you mean? I have the default q3config.cfg. I have no other configs as this is a brand new OS I just put on my computer.

I did. But the gfx drivers for GeForce MX 4000 make my colors 4bit.
And it still didn't work.
I tried to install DirectX but it didn't install correctly.

get the latest drivers from nvidia or from tweakforce XTreme-G 175.16 XP 32 bit http://www.tweakforce.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=172

That card is more than enough to run Q3 I don't see why would he need a newer one unless it is fucked up.

I'm going to reinstall Q3 as well. I was hoping all my opengl problems were behind me when I installed XP but apparently they followed me.

That Xtreme driver thing simply said "Could not find any drivers compatible with your graphics card, Setup will now exit."

You tried installing stock drivers? (ie. the ones that should be on the cd you got with the card).

If all else fails (and apparently it did), try installing some really old nvidia drivers, like these: Click meeee
