I always liked ffa and 1v1 publics, mostly railonly.
TAG, CTF or TDM publics have no point for me since everyone plays FFA style on them.
Right now when rail4ever is gone I'm playing like 2 times per week on R2 1v1 server.
I would also play on some FFA railonly dm17 server just like camel was hosting

if u make another server i might join it if i feel like i want to, i join server not only to play q3 but also see people i like in the game, so if i looked on beer.freezer and saw 8 no names who i dont know but look on your 'new' server and see 3 people i know and like im gonna join that server, simple.

also i will join any server thats got at least 6+ players on it, so at least i get a decent game with 3v3 / 4v4.

I like beer sever and it should stay the same imo. i don't remember a beer tdm but ive only being playing on beer recently. however i think many severs have being using maps good for freeze as tdm maps. But many of them don't work as a tdm map. In the other thread "blue cathedral", i don't think would work to well as a freeze map because when the teams getting smaller due to freezing, it would be hard to find the enemy and so slow down the game speed to much. However in tdm the team sizes stay constant so more encounters happen. tdm maps don't just have to be large maps but the smaller they get the more complicated they should be in order to properly diffuse players around the arena. Some good tdm maps would be q3dm11, q3dm12, Q3DM14, Q3DM15 and that blue cathedral map.

Your right mona i do miss tdm. back in the day the tdm severs i played on were normally quite full but when i came back about 4 years later they had mostly gone. also i remember there was the odd ctf, erm i think Q3CTF1, every couple of rounds. they had good severs back then i cant remember the names of them tho apart from that retro one.
