Pak0.pk3 problem

hello!

i forget about parseservermessage problem,and now its a habit to reconnect after 1 map.so i can live with that error.

almost everything was nice with my q3.exe.

but 2 days ago morning i've tried to launch defrag mod..OMG again error.

after i've clicked  defrag mod icon - there are white screen then kickin back in Windows,and this blue q3console with text -

i've deleted old pak0.pk3 and then have download new pak0.pk3,but it doesnt help.

i want to Quit Quake III Arena,cause of eternal errors...

perhaps, problem occurred due to large amount of pk3s located in baseq3 folder. try removing some of them

You have too many pk3 files :
remove some from:

  • quake3\baseq3\*.pk3
  • quake3\excessiveplus\*.pk3
How is happening is : when you have too many pk3, q3 will use only a limited number of them ... but because these are random selected then there is a probability that some of them won't be used next time q3 makes the recheck .. quake 3 makes a recheck when you:
  • change your graphic settings (vid_restart)
  • the map changes or restarts (map_restart, map, rotate)
  • connect/disconnect from a server(connect, disconnect)

try altering com_hunkmegs also.

from the log u have posted, no pk3 has been loaded yet

and couldn't reopen means it has been opened once, so I think it's config related

I propose to backup (cut and put somewhere out of q3) ur :
* baseq3/q3config.cfg
* excessiveplus/q3config.cfg
* if u have some autoexec.cfg too

normally configs should be reseted to avoid any suspicious message.

Wanna avoid seeying mow, skull & co Surprise

Try searching "TUBs maps repacker" and repack all defrag maps

now everything loads very fast w/o errors!

REPACKER FTW!
i have no now parseservermessage and defrag problems.

EDIT:now when i connect from the spider with Qconnect to an excessiveplus server - there is new error -

in blue q3console are written -

I think you've repacked some .pk3 (point release) or maybe pak0 ^^

u have too many pk3-files in ur baseq3-folder!-
move some to another "q3maps/test"-folder
(outside of the quake3-folder)!
