I actually abandoned windows for linux for gaming, then got annoyed because i couldnt run all my old programs, so i installed windows 2000.

In my experience, the FPS was the same in linux and win 2000, but it was waaaaaaaaaay lower in WinXP.

Just a thought...

Try older drivers to 3dcard, use forums to find out wich one. I've tried out older ones a few times. And...
If you have a clean install 2000 or xp on same computer, xp eats more ram.

make sure u installed : Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or higher, Microsoft .NET Framework installed prior to downloading and installing the Catalyst™ Control Center
and only use this http://support.ati.com/ics/support/DLRedirect.asp?fileIDExt=050553d40196ef109fff37cbb40aaf28&accountID=737&deptID=894 to unistall previous driver.

what motherboard is in that computer?

kaspersky lol than u have few more trojan and backdoor program on ur pc

lol i dont say that i only use kaspersky :roll: u think i cant keep my pc clean of trojans and co. Thinking what u think about that ? : for checking cpu usage u have to minimize quake and that increases much more cpu usage that u run on fullscreen cause the desktop must load itself and its refreshing itself also so i wanna see screen where your quake runs on minimized window and the cpu usage is under 92-95% man :!:

btw u ever heared from win-updates ? that reduces the chance that trojans come on ur pc and second thing u have ever heared of combo (kaspersky+agnitum,outpost) in works wonder Winking (the FW isnt on when i play if u think that) Thinking

btw is kaspersky one of the best programs to remove trojans ... which are not findable by anti spyware so what u use, norton ? :thumbleft: :roll:
