However, why do video games get into the visor of politicians and experts then again and again? Actually the discussion is a old hat. Regardless wether Rock'n Roll, TV, comics - young media or converstation forms always had a difficult state in the history of mankind. Even "writing" was criticized by the Greek philosopher "Platon" 400 bC sharply. It damages according to his opinion the memory and reduces furthermore the ability of the communication to a minimum. Now a prohibition of killer-games are is again in discussion in germany. Of cours, about the sense of such games can be discussed. However it is mor than questionable, wether such a measure would have prevented the terrible of a young man."Sebastian B." wrote in his departure letter, that the reasons were social pressure, fear of the future, performance-pressure, financial difficulties, loneliness. There are therefor considerably more complex connetions which led here to violence and agression. A prohibition of "killergames" would be there for pure "Aktionismus". I did not found a English word for it.

This case does cleary show once again, what is missing for young people often: An eviroment which is interested in there everyday life, which backups, build-up, bring up, care them. If parents and pedagogues would have accordingly the corresponding media-competence, and pass it to the kids, killer-games would not even have such a success.

You did clearly miss what i wrote, what i wrote already contains your statement.

Nevertheless, for psychologically burdened young people every small thing can be a trigger. To identify everything with killer games would be fundamentally presusumptuous.

The causes are to be searched in the environment of the young people, not in their activities.
