pls help! about default "unnamedplayer"!

while i am playing quake 3, it always says "name is"crow", default is "unnamedplayer"! why does it say? pls help! thx!

pls help! about default "unnamedplayer"!

that means that your nick is unnamedplayer in your "classic q3" settings.... rename it then it will work

Yeah alot of people seem to be having the same problem.
How do you do if your name is written with special characters?
Btw I think you might well be right, Diablo, since I made an autoexec in baseq3, I don't seem to have the name problem any more?

could be as simple as this : somewhere in your .cfg you have a bind like this : /bind p name and when u play u hit p constantly. Thinking

or there is a "name" string on ur config , and u are constantly hitting exec mycfg.cfg

check if there is no error like this in your config

It's beyond me why no-one gets it.

"/name" is a cvar like any other, it holds a certain value in itself. The game just shows you what is the default fallback value for the cvar is, in "/name" case it is UnnamedPlayer. It will do the same thing with any other cvar (ie, pop up the default value if you input the cvar without changing it's current state).

I'm afraid i don't understand what you're saying.

All i was explaining was why that "default: UnnamedPlayer" is there, is all.

Sorry to go offtopic here, but for me, giving up smoking was easy: get asthma, wake up in the middle of the night cos u cant breathe, get your lungs to amke whistling sounds when you take deep breaths, start sitting down after 35 minutes of football cos ur out of breath, after a week os such living I decided "f£^K this $h1t"... easy Winking
