PS3, XBOX 360 ,WII ...
forget about consoles, a PC is more than enough.
PC > x-360 > ps3 > ps2 >wee ;>
for me x-360 is better bcz you can use pirates there, on ps3 its too expensive, blu-ray recorder, cd's etc...
the 360 will prob have a blu ray player by the end of the year...
the wii isn't competing with the 360 or ps3... i dont have the 360 or ps3, but i'll tell you about the wii since i have one...
pros
awesome single player games (super mario galaxy, RE4, okami, metroid, zelda, zack & wiki, no more heroes etc)
party games (warioware, smash bros, mario kart, mario and sonic @ olympics, wii sports etc)
virtual console/wiiware (old school games ftw!)
control schemes (most new games are coming out with the choice of using any of the controllers... wiimote, wiimote&nunchuck, classic controller, gamecube controller)
non games (even if you don't like wii fit or big brain academy, the family will love it... i used wii fit for the first time yesterday... it was pretty good)
wii channels (news, weather, internet browsing, game channels, and soon bbc iplayer on the wii...)
homebrew
cons
so much shovelware/kiddy games (there are plenty good games out there, once you get past the mountain of crap)
mediocre online gaming (fun to play against randoms... but friendcodes and other lame/lack of online features don't make it fun for too long)
hard drive? (space issues if you heavily use your wii for downloading games and storing pics and channels)
rare control issues (motion sensing isn't 100% accurate 100% of the time, 'waggle' control schemes sometimes overused in some games)
graphics (if you are an eye candy junkie, the graphics are limited, so often stylised... but you play quake, so that's not really a problem)
