q3 won't stay in fullscreen win7 x64

it seems to be happening more and more often. when I open on q3, it won't stay in fullscreen. i keep clicking inside quake, but it keeps switching between the taskbar (as if quake is inactive in windowed mode) and the quake screen. sometimes, If i click back and fourth enough, it finally uses quake as the active application. Sad anyone else have this issue?

i am running:
win 7 ultimate x64
geforce gt220

edit: i have tried running in all different compatibility modes to no avail.

does your taskbar at the bottom , can you click on it accidently and open something ,
if it doesnt do that i dont see why a little taskbar should make a difference

ya if i click on an item in the taskbar when this happens, i could open something. and when the taskbar is showing, quake doesn't respond (it's like its inactive) till i click on it.

no the taskbar isn't set to always on top. it is locked though. Surprise but i tried it locked + unlocked Sad

it happens to me quite often too.... i guess its because, when u hold ur mouse over firefox icon in taskbar for example it shows u the little window thing above it Big grin

therefore when u let ur mouse over the quake icon, thats what is exactly happening...
What i do, i click the taskbar (quake icon ) and move my mouse just to middle of screen so it hasnt the time to show me the little window thing Big grin

Have you tried to add this to your autoexec.cfg?

seta r_fullscreen "1"
seta r_mode "8"
vid_restart

r_mode "8" is 1280x1024, you should try changing this to your desktop resolution. Just set the resolution in the game and look up the value using the console. I had a similar problem once and as far as I can remember I was able to solve this by simply add "vid_restart" to my autoexec.cfg

i meant start quake and moving the mouse (before quake blue console thing)
For me it has to do something with taskbar-thumbnail thing...
try to disable AERO peek or something like that Confused

i forgot to mention that I use rocketdock also. that's where I clik on my quake icon. idk if it has anything to do with it, prolly not.. but i have nothing 'pinned' to my taskbar, so the aeropeek thing should have nothing to do with it. W7 still turns Aero theme to Basic in Fullscreen the same as in Vista though.

anyway, it seems to have stopped momentarily. i didn't even do anything. I'm running q3 in 1600x900. but this was happening in 1280x1024 also. idk, i'll just try to keep my mouse pointer out of strange places Davie

I had that Card Also running on my Win7 64Bits System.
Its your Drivers mate NVidia. I had Exakt the same problem before and did some google on this try 2 change the drivers etc.

(Those Drivers have problem whit Win7 64bits system)

I baught another Grafik Card Asus EAH 4670 HDMI 512MB DDR3 = 10 Euros Happy
still running on my Win7 64bit system and now evrything is Flawless.
