r_overbrightbits problem
Is there a way to make this command work...by work I mean when u set it to a value higher then 1 (in example 5)... because if u do that on lower resolutions (800x600 and 1024x768) u get a black screen and see only the enemies...on higher resolution u dont get a black screen, but seems quake sets overbrightbits back to 1 on higher resolutions (well, thats flexs explanation ) but I agree with him cause I cant see any changes on higher resolutions with overbrightbits 5 Help would be appreciated...
im not so sure what this command does to be honest...i used it once when i had a minimizer - maybe it changes the brightness in quake on its own as opposed to the normal brightness (r_gamma) which changes the monitor brightness. pls someone (hq ? explain what this does
first of gamma is not brightnes
in every CRT monitors u have few levels of brightnes, in service mode u got brightnes of every basic color and subbrightnes
overbrightbits is some caind of subbrightnes and it will work together with mapoverbrightbits, same as in CRT monitors, that mean both cmd do afect each other
u can set both cmds to 0, and managing using only intensity and gamma
overbrightbits increse models colors intensity but will make also some 2d objets colors deferences, used good can replace intensity cmd
if u will set overbrightbit to 4 u cant use mapoverbrightbits lower than 4 if u do that it will make u will see back textures couse curve of colors brightnes will have value 0

hmm i dunno how hq gets all this knowledge
so if r_gamma is not the same as brightness...
why does the 'brightness' slider in the interface menu affect r_gamma ?
Thx once again HQ,I was waiting for your reply
