Re: ban HighScore-lists from Public Servers

it's their decision who they want to play. it's the admin's decision if they want a rank. if you are opposed to the "more skilled players" getting stats off of the "less skilled" players make a more in-depth rank that expands to all servers and interweaves the game if you want a more even rank but, that would break a lot of things and make many things obsolete.

why would you be so concerned about what someone else is 'ranked'? simply put, some people just naturally play in a way that helps them get to the top of rank. other people naturally play in another way which bumps them down lower based on the rank equation. it's not actually skill to be ranked, it's more playing style. the more wild people usually end up lower and of course, the more relaxed 'i don't want to rush into a room and i want 100% accuracy' people tend to be higher. with other variables included as well, like accuracy, etc.

quote Kid "Train vs Noobs and with unbalanced teams: thats really hard?"

Kid i belive you can be a much better player even if you play vs noobs. Unbind your binds and concentrate .You are always spamming with binds and tell people what team to join. Train moves, weapon change and other things and you will be better.

Re: ban HighScore-lists from Public Servers

i'll make a balanced map where pros will be noober and noobs will be more pro Big grin (balanced)

and if you think a bit more youll see that NO'ONE will like that map Sad if it dose exactly what said, right.

maybe in idea would be to have vsp skill formula according to who you kill / can't kill
but i dont watch vsps anyway... and that skill number doesn't the reflect the skill of a player. 1 maybe plays more 1 maybe play less .. 1 maybe plays for fun more then for skill .. 1 maybe dosn't play on that server at all.

so why we talk about this?

You dont seem to realize,
that personal opinions:
"i dont care about it" and
suppositions:
"noone cares about it"
are no arguments!

And u also dont recognize,
that u always become personally
(esp on my threads)! Confused

Blah blah blah butthurt butthurt butthurt blah. The best (i refuse to call the elite of e+ pros) do deserve "prestige" because they're good, and they trained hard to earn the right to own people of lesser skill. That's one. Two, maybe some people do want to track their progress on some kinda list. If one is available, who are you to say they can't use it to gauge themselves or brag about their scores on it and take pride in it (however silly that is)? Three, e+ isn't really in a position to separate it's dwindling, diminutive player base into tiers of skill a'la QL, so playing on servers with hugely unbalanced teams is something you have to get used to (pretty sure that's what you're whining about here, if by proxy).

this isn't an argument at all, this is just you whining blindly about something that doesn't need to be made a big deal. The 'war' servers that DO have a rank are usually trained on and afked on a lot, at least when I played. So THOSE stats are irrelevant too. The rank means NOTHING from a public server to a war server, two different mindsets of playing. People tend to talk and sit there and tinker a lot in public servers (so why should rank matter?) I do not know why the top 10 is bothering you so much. I guess I will make a post complaining why there isn't a last 10 and a middle 10. I will also complain about noobs playing the 'pros' as you had made a post about pros playing noobs. I didn't know servers had skill requirements. I am not against you as a person but, what is the point to this thread? Does it really bother you that you see a top 10 generated from a list of criteria that does not evaluate skill in a remotely equally fair way? Some people play quake just to play quake, good and bad players come on at ALL times of the day; it just so happens some times the 'good players' get bored after a while and quit and there might be one really good player who still wanted to play while all the others left, and the rest of the players aren't so good. So he killed someone who wasn't so good a few times so what?

I don't think you have a problem with the rank, but more of the constant in-game top 10 right (Because you can easily avoid the online stats by not going to the site)? Ignore it, just like you would ignore someone on the server. If it doesn't isn't something you like, don't concern yourself about it. Now if naked pictures were popping up in the console and you truly did oppose that, I could see a problem with that. But it's non-offensive text generated by a weak script.

Of course, it would be nice to have a global rank that would rightfully 'rank' players and weight points by rank, etc etc (a more intense criteria) but do you know how hard and long it would take to make one effective enough? Do you know how many things you would break and have to fix in attempt to make a more general and effective rank? Quite a bit of variables involved. The authorization process would have to change (for player consistency. Which by the way, could be done with an irc bot, etc), things like that. I know this isn't about game modifications and whichever but it was kind of an extremity.

Out of my two suggestions, ignoring it would be your best bet.

It if funny how some people wanna tell other people, what they have to do with the server "they own". they pay the servers, they decide what they do with "their own" servers.

If smo wants to have stats on his own server, this smo will do this stats and a redicolous thread like this will nothing change on it.
