[Resolved]FPS<125 whereas POWERFUL HARDWARE?
Hi there,
I run q3 on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I have 4GB DDR3-PC 10600, ATI HD4350 1GB DDR2, CPU Phenom X2 @3.1Ghz, all core allowed to Q3.
I play on a 28'' LCD so I like to have 1920x1200 and cg_fov 130.
Ingame I tried every graphics settings to improve my framerate but I never reached to have a stable framerate at 125fps. I have "fps drops", but I reached to make it more rarely. IThere is now "fps drops", its 80-125fps when I watch the score or when many players are shooting bfg or lightninggun and 110-125 everytime ingame.
Many players told me I must to reach 250fps stable with my hardware, because they run q3 on a less powerful hardware and have 250fps stable easily.
Of course every drivers are up-to-date and my computer is very clean. I use Kaspersky 2011, MalwareBytes, Crab Cleaner and Defraggler. I dont run any theme or graphic shit on my system.
Any idea or any help about this?
Thanks for any answer.
Looks like some compatibility problems exist with ati/amd graphics cards. All last threads about fps drops was with this cards. Cant actually help, cause I have never used it, but try to monitor how busy is you gpu and video memery (in game, not minimized), temperature, gpu/mem/shader clocks. Maybe you'll see some strange things. And also check your cpu loads. GPU-Z shows some useful information on sensors tab.
It is not a general hardware problem, otehrwise i would have this to with my ATI card (signature), i have not such a really high resolution like him, i play just at 1920 x 1980 but still on highest details and my fps number on the upper right does not shake even.
oh , first i support 1/3 warning because not noly ati people have this problem , also others have it
by the way this look like to be the same subject in 4th or 5th thread
and let me point my finger about something noticeable
because the problem seem to be appearing new
since many ppl comlpaining about it
i think its neither software
nor hardware imho
Your ATI HD4350 has lower memory bandwidth/fillrates than my old Nvidia 7600GS(AGP) on which I'm have same things even on lower resolution (1680x1050)
Upgrade to something like Radeon HD 4670 or better http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ATI_GPUs look on memory bandwidth and texture fillrate - bigger are better
use r_picmip 11 instead of 12, 11 is the maximum value allowed by punkbuster.
All right, I know the problem now. I talk with only "stable fps" :
1920x1200 fov 130 : 40fps
1920x1200 fov 110 : 60fps
1600x1200 fov 130 : 90fps
1600x1200 fov 110 : 110fps
1280x1024 fov 130 : 115 fps
1280x1024 fov 110 : 125fps
1024x768 fov 130 : 260 fps
1024x768 fov 110 : 550 fps
800x600 fov 130 : 650fps
800x60 fov 110 : 999fps
So I must to play with r_mode 7 now and fov 100 or 110 (and r_picmip 12) in wait to buy a better GPU to reach
1920x1200 fov 130 : 999fps
