[Resolved] Shoutbox WTF
Pink, must u spam every where on this forum? please stop posting 10 replies to each person in threads. There is this special little button called "EDIT", it works nicely.
Have to agree with Khaz.
Honestly reading the replies on this thread I rolleyed twice and even tried facepalming myself.
Khaz, Bozo is correct. You should try to avoid reading the shoutbox since obviously it has taken the form of an online orgy with online sexual monkey'ish predators trolling it. I can't see any rule being enforced on the shoutbox any time soon, so you will do yourself a favor if you just avoid it. No option for disabling the shoutbox as far as I know, unfortunately.
People aren't forced to read the shoutbox, however having such a tantrum on the E+ frontpage is absurd and depressing to the older players that build this community. I'd just remove the shoutbox from the site if these few people fail to comply, baning doesn't work anyway.
@ Pink
Really, you should consider cooling down on the shoutbox, if you don't have respect for yourself (we don't care anyway) then atleast have respect to everyone else that use the shoutbox and don't want to read your annoying spam. If you have an urge to cybersex then please visit IRC, there are tons of channels where you can cybersex, if that doesn't suit your fat needs, I suggest some classic porn or simply pleasuring yourself.
Endpoint: Use the shoutbox only when you have something socialy acceptable to share with the rest.
Ways to stop sb spam
Only allow people 8 posts an hour anymore would have to be Spam.
Put a feature on the sb which allows for scrolling down the comments so more could be listed at once showing who has being posting the most and to avoid losing your post so quickly to the mass of other posts because it more accessible.
Put a time stamp on each post to enable people and mods to count how many posts they do an hour to stop Spam and also to see how old the post is, for example, whether a fw could of already happened because the post has being there so long.
for people who really don't like the sb add a feature to remove it from site. (pointless imo as you can simple just ignore it anyways)
So if you put more information available to the mods and people it will make it easier to track and stop Spam. Instead of people just accusing in forums.
Also mods do not be afraid of punishing people its what your here for. But obviously make warnings first written then official. gl hf

Had the same idea in mind, this would surely stop the spam but I would lower the number of posts per hour. Another thing I would like to see is that the animation of playernames is disabled by default (only for the shoutbox).
@Nympho and PInk.
It is not the first time we have to warn you or some several people to let it every day.
Now if you spam more, then you must also bear the harsh consequences!
@ All
Thanks for the good ideas from you to include some features in the shoutbox.
We give some things to easy+ what is advantageous on this website!
We Mods / Admins will also optimize the way of dealing with it!
ban poland and russia.
Shove in tutti frutti)))))
Hey guys, the shoutbox already stopped looking like a playfield for autistic children, what a strange coincidence LOL?!!!
Helo e+ ;>>>>:* <33333
when you write something in shoutbox it's for the whole community, everyone has the opportunity to read it, otherwise use pm, irc, msn, gg, icq, skype, aMSN, kopete, miranda, psi, trillian, emesene, qq, adium, empathie, gossip.... make your choise.
I won't disable shoutbox because of these few people. Not so long ago it was usefull, I'm sure it can be again. I am not as sure some people's behavior can change. That's why we need mute function also here. With it we could mute the 4 or 5 annoying persons and everything will be back to normal. We would not have to read/try to ignore useless comments, and kids would still be able to play here.
Third thread about that in less than a week... and we screw up?
... sigh...
Hiding a div is quickly done.
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- intial state hidden --> function toggleElement(rid) { current=(document.getElementById(rid).style.display == 'none') ? 'block' : 'none'; document.getElementById(rid).style.display = current; } <!-- initial state visible --> function toggleElement2(rid) { current=(document.getElementById(rid).style.display == 'block') ? 'none' : 'block'; document.getElementById(rid).style.display = current; } </script>
This goes to the body:
<a href="#" onClick="toggleElement2('shoutbox'); return false;">Shoutbox</a> <div id="shoutbox"> <script type="text/javascript">toggleElement2('results1');</script> Here goes the shoutbox! </div>
